Model Overview:

The Nissan Murano was one of the first midsize crossovers introduced in the United States and quickly became a popular alternative to more traditional SUVs thanks to its taut, carlike driving character and avant-garde styling. Later Nissan Muranos are notable for their higher-quality interiors, updated technology features and higher fuel economy ratings.

New or used, the Murano is definitely worth a look if you're on the hunt for a midsize crossover with seating for five. In reviews, our editors have generally praised this Nissan's sophisticated appearance, stylish and comfortable interior and strong acceleration. Middling cargo capacity and poor rearward visibility are our main complaints about the Nissan Murano. You'll find competing models that are better on one or both of these counts, but most won't match the Murano's combination of performance and style.

  • My amazing new Murano Platinum - 2016 Nissan Murano

I love it! Super comfortable ride, handles and turns with the ease of a a smaller car yet I am sitting high up with great visibility in my gorgeous SUV with great cargo space to haul around my sport kit- board and kites, bicycle and other stuff. Keyless entry is a necessary luxury for me now: -) On top of it, I am getting super gas mileage even better than I expected 28.5 mph! I would buy this car again and many of my friends now want one too.

  • Happy with my Murano - 2005 Nissan Murano

I live on a very long and curvy road that I travel twice a day. This is a very fun ride through those curves. It is also nice to not feel so top heavy when taking corners. No tipping over worries here.

As a cross over SUV this vehicle is right up there with the Lexus RX330 in comfort and handling. I would have to say that I am most impressed with the cars smooth and extremly quite ride.

  • 170,000 in 6 yrs & still going strong! - 2003 Nissan Murano

I was really surprised to read of the problems that others have had with their 2003 Murano. With 170,000+ miles on mine, of course Ive had to replace normal wear-out parts, do the brakes, etc, Also had to replace front strut sleeves, but that is the only problem that I have had in 170,000 miles. Love the transmission and I have always done as my salesman advised, "Come to a COMPLETE stop before shifting from reverse to drive - no rolling shifts!" I like mine so much that when I get another 50,000 miles on her (about 1 1/2 years for me), Im going to get another Murano. I do wish that the back window rolled down, though.

  • Fantastic SUV! - 2004 Nissan Murano

I cant say enough positive things about the Murano. It is beautifully designed, inside and out. I dont have the need for a third row seat, so the Murano was perfect for me. The great thing about the back seat is that 3 tall adults can ride comfortably with plenty of leg and head room. The back seat even reclines for long road trips. There is plenty of cargo space and the back seats (40/60 split) fold down with zero effort because there are two handles located in the rear cargo area that you simply pull to lower the seats. The interior is very spacious and the exterior design is so eye- catching. The engine is smooth and quiet and the handling is solid. Great fuel economy.

  • CVT needs replacement after 5 years - 2003 Nissan Murano
    By -

At 60000 the transmission was already having problems. At 70000 miles and 5 years old my transmission needs replacement. While driving for about 10-15 miles, it would have resistance at a stop sign, trying to pull into traffic. I would press the gas pedal and the Murano doesnt want to go, its scary when I pull into traffic and a car is coming. I love all other features of the Murano, just the CVT stinks. Today my Murano is stuck in the shop and I need $5000-$6000 to replace the transmission.

my experience w/my murano has been wonderful, my salesman said when i purchased it that each day i would find something new that i liked about it and he was correct. i dont not have anything bad to say about it. i love it. it drives beautifully, is very very comfortable, roomy, and fits everything i need and then some. it has already taken quite a few trips and has passed all tests with us. we call it the silver bullet, and it is living up to its name. what a great product...

  • After lots of searching - 2010 Nissan Murano
    By -

I needed a vehicle that is comfortable to drive and has some extra room. Traded in an 08 Outlander XLS, which is a great small SUV...but just too small for me. Looked at Lexus Certified, way too much money, Toyota Highlander, rough ride. Tried to buy American but the interest rates have skyrocketed. Murano SL AWD with everything except nav, have my own portable as I travel a lot and didnt need to spend the money on factory nav. Car is smooth, gets 24 to 25 mpg on highway, 80% of my driving. Put on 2000 miles in 3 weeks and everything fine so far.

  • Never purchase a Nissan Murano again!!! - 2009 Nissan Murano
    By -

Transmission was slipping around 113,000 miles. Took it to Nissan they said it just needed to be reset. At 129,000 miles the transmission went completely out. Still paying on a car monthly thats sitting in my driveway. Already paid for the radiator, catalyst converter, and exhaust pipe. Cannot afford another thing. Trying to replace the car or voluntary repo. So sad!!
