Model Overview:

The Nissan Murano was one of the first midsize crossovers introduced in the United States and quickly became a popular alternative to more traditional SUVs thanks to its taut, carlike driving character and avant-garde styling. Later Nissan Muranos are notable for their higher-quality interiors, updated technology features and higher fuel economy ratings.

New or used, the Murano is definitely worth a look if you're on the hunt for a midsize crossover with seating for five. In reviews, our editors have generally praised this Nissan's sophisticated appearance, stylish and comfortable interior and strong acceleration. Middling cargo capacity and poor rearward visibility are our main complaints about the Nissan Murano. You'll find competing models that are better on one or both of these counts, but most won't match the Murano's combination of performance and style.

  • Already Partial To Nissan! - 2003 Nissan Murano

Ive owned Nissans in the past and was already partial to them which is why I checked out the Murano. But just to make an informative choice, I also checked out the Lexus, The BMW, The Infinite, None of which compared, and which was backed up by the online studies. I love the CVT, super smooth, esp. climbing steep grades. you gotta go try some mountain driving! Nissan did everything right on this vehicle. Yeah, theyre still my favorite!

Very nice car (SUV), there is a noice on the driver seat that I hate and there are not any solucions at this time. I will recommend this car if you like a SUVs, there is no reason to buy another expensive SUV like BMW or Volvo.

  • Overall its OK - 2006 Nissan Murano

Had my 2006 nissan murano SL AWD since Feb 2013. Overall its an ok car. Gas mileage is alright, im averaging 18 mpg on premium. So far I have had 2 problems. I replaced struts at 102k, bought it at 88k, Electronic coupling assembly broke, repair cost anywhere from $1000-$2000. I simply just unplugged it. Everything else seems to be fine. The CVT takes some getting used to especially on decelaration. As for the BOSE, theres nothing wrong with it at all, its a pretty powerfull system, i dont know why people hate it. Words are loud and clear and the bass is powerful. what more can you want from a sound system.

  • Solid Car all phases - 2009 Nissan Murano

I have had my Murano for nearly 3 months now and so far, so good. The ride is smooth bordering on luxurious. The gadgets and accommodations are enjoyable (iPod interface, panoramic roof, xenons, sensing wipers, memory seats, trunk dividers/shade). Coming from an Audi this car is not as fun to drive but it is certainly responsive and well built. Looked at the Venza and Santa Fe and the Murano is a much nicer ride than the Hyundai and offers more features than the Venza, with better pricing. Only minor complaints are the gas mileage has been right at 20 mpgs while I was hoping for closer to the 23 number and the in dash cd is just a single. Overall, very pleased but need to practice parking.

  • Quality not there - 2005 Nissan Murano
    By -

Bought Murano after many GMs. Like looks and performance, at 34000 miles rear brakes, completely worn out, metal to metal, too small for vehicle. Gas filler neck very rusty, very early, poor galvanization. In 4th year,at 40000 miles, chrome on Grill peeled and muffler broke off (rusted off) at inlet pipe. $400. just for muffler, from dealer. Poor quality on Grill chrome and muffler. Bought wife used Toyota RAV4, absolutely no problems. Phoned Nissan about quality problems, they said out of warranty, too bad. I believe some of these problems are due to Cleveland winters, but other cars dont have these problems.

  • AWESOME - 2004 Nissan Murano

Handles as well as my 3 series BMW. I tried out Pacific (under-powered) and the X5 and found the the Murano compared well against it for alot less. The new transmission creates the best driving experience. Gas mileage is OK, but who cares after you get behind the wheel. Awesome in snow and rain with great steering and tracking. Blew away a Jeep CJs and Cherokees in a snow storm. Gets more attention than the PT Cruiser did 2 years ago. Nissan did a lousy job advertising this car and the AUTO INDUSTRY MAGAZINES spent too much time on the Infinity. In 2003 the Murano was a far better designed car. My son talked me into trying it. THANKS SON

  • Tried them all, Murano won. - 2009 Nissan Murano

I recently bought the 09 Murano after religiously researching all the vehicles in the category. I found the Murano to stand out from the rest in many ways. At first glance the vehicle just does not look like its competition. (Many of them all look alike.) The inside is very nice. The leather seats are incredibly comfortable. Controls are all easy to reach, instrument cluster is nicely arranged. The engine performance is great. Rides very quiet and very responsive. Power life gate is great, very handy. Back up camera is great, much more useful than I thought it would be. Aimable headlights are very bright. The orange light over head creates a soft glow at night. Awesome car!

  • Rain drops keep falling on my head - 2009 Nissan Murano

I purchased my 2009 Nissan Murano LE AWD in April 2008. This vehicle has almost every bell and whistle, including the dual moon roof. And there begins my nightmare. One day, shortly after heavy rain storm. I noticed on the inside drivers side pillar at the bottom. the fabric was discolored. Well it was wet. I called the dealer, they had a subcontractor come out to fix it. They said it was the moonroof drain. 2 weeks later another rain storm, more water. This time the dealer kept my car for 4 days. They assured me that it was water tight!! They even soaked it with a hose for 30 min. 2 weeks later it rained again, interior was soaked. 10/04/08 my Murano is back with the dealer still leaking

  • Air Conditioner - 2009 Nissan Murano
    By -

My 2009 Murano has almost 75,000 mi on it (now 8 years old), and up to now, havent had much problem with it. My Air Conditioning Compressor just went out, and the dealer cost to replace it is over $1,200.00!! So far apparently, there is no recall on this.
