Overview & Reviews
The Nissan Murano was one of the first midsize crossovers introduced in the United States and quickly became a popular alternative to more traditional SUVs thanks to its taut, carlike driving character and avant-garde styling. Later Nissan Muranos are notable for their higher-quality interiors, updated technology features and higher fuel economy ratings.
New or used, the Murano is definitely worth a look if you're on the hunt for a midsize crossover with seating for five. In reviews, our editors have generally praised this Nissan's sophisticated appearance, stylish and comfortable interior and strong acceleration. Middling cargo capacity and poor rearward visibility are our main complaints about the Nissan Murano. You'll find competing models that are better on one or both of these counts, but most won't match the Murano's combination of performance and style.

The Grin is In... - 2003 Nissan Murano
By hpthorn - August 28 - 2:00 amI spent about 8 months looking at options and always kept coming back to the Murano. At the time it wasnt even available yet. I knew it had the technological edge over the competition, but it wasnt until I test drove the SE model that I knew I would be buying one. Ive now had it for a month and its been good to me, and yes that grin on the grill reflects the one on my face. This is one excellent drive, plus its reasonably sensible.

Awesome Murano - 2003 Nissan Murano
By bayerjv - August 28 - 2:00 amExcellent vehicle. Looks good, handles good, reasonable mileage for type of vehicle. Get appreciative looks whereever I go. Initial inspection revealed on minor flaw in the interior which I did not have fixed due to flaws location not being very noticable.

Morano Murano - 2003 Nissan Murano
By jaak - August 28 - 2:00 amAfter having numerous American and German vehicles, including a WWII halftrack, the Murano is a fabulous pleasure to enjoy. From the great Nissan handling and acceleration, the well thought out interior and innovative features such as the CVT, to common sense layout and easy access, legroom, adjustability and storage space, I can truly say there is no other vehicle in my 30 years of driving, that I have found as much fun and practical. Nissan you got it right, here! (What happened with the new Maxima? Oops!)

Great Investment - 2003 Nissan Murano
By muffinman_muffy - August 23 - 10:00 amThis is an undersized, overbuilt (a good thing) SUV. It is the perfect family car.

Great! So Far......... - 2003 Nissan Murano
By Conman - August 23 - 10:00 amJust picked it up $2,700 under MSRP. Fully loaded, everything except navagation system. Its my wifes car and she loves it. We still need to figure out all the "gadgets". It has terrific power and rides smoothly. Noted some reviews mention noise with sunroof open. Have found this to be true. This Maurano did not come with sunroof deflector. Strange for a vehicle with everything. We love the looks and do not see many on the road. Concerned about stated gas mileage, getting 14.7 around town. Hope to get better than that! My wife will be running on the highway. This is our first SUV and first foreign vehicle.

Sporty SUV - 2005 Nissan Murano
By Patvee - August 22 - 5:43 pmThis is an above average SUV. Loaded with options and it handles great. Ride is overall good and I am getting 18 MPG combined. The styling makes this auto look like no other. The Murano has been back to the dealer for 2 defects but the dealer fixed both. I would buy it again.

Looking forward to my next one! - 2003 Nissan Murano
By Lend - August 22 - 2:33 pmNo problems at all with fuel economy. This is like any other vehicle..if you drive it hard, the economy suffers, but I regularly get better than 25 MPG on the highway. Very comfortable vehicle with heated seats. Handles like a dream and quality is better than my 2001 Odyssey. Better attention to details than most manufacturers. Im looking forward to getting my next one.... Im thinking an SE AWD with leather.

Wow, is all i have to say!!! - 2006 Nissan Murano
By Candigrl - August 20 - 8:00 pmOk, what can i say about my beauty?? I leased 06 S AWD. I wished i could have afforded the next model; but am very happy with my Murano. Its very spacious inside especially with two growing kids (back seat reclines) just perfect in my book! seats are very comfortable for fabric; that is. Drove this car to S.C.(12 hour drive) and back with no problems whatsoever. This is the most comfortable vehicle i have leased. At the end of my lease, I will more than likely purchase or if the style remains somewhat the same get another one; of course, THE WORKS!

Avoid High Mileage Used Muranos - 2004 Nissan Murano
By moneypitowner - August 18 - 2:56 amLove the design and functionality of the Murano. Had Nissan and Infinity before and very reliable and economical to maintain. I put 200K on my earlier Nissans and they ran great. Not the case with Murano. I bought the Murano with 80K on it. Owner babied it and Murano maintained by dealer, all receipts. At 115K. CVT went bad. $4500 repair. Head gasket bad at 121k. Another $4500 repair. Numerous reports of transfer case failures as well as exhaust system repairs. Very expensive repairs. Recent problems with head gaskets on newer models also reported. Get extended warranties if you keep the car past dealer warranty period. Dont buy a first generation used Murano.

Great crossover! - 2003 Nissan Murano
By queeney - August 17 - 10:00 amNissan blew it with the minimal advertising of this great vehicle! It rides wonderfully, is very luxurious and comfortable inside and has loads of safety and comfort features. It is perfect for those who no longer need the seating in a van, and who want the option of 4 wheel drive, a great transmission, plenty of power, and comfort!
