This Year's Model Updates:

For 2005, the Murano receives a rollover sensor for the side curtain airbags, and a new S model with fewer features and a lower price. New options packages and an Intelligent Key entry and ignition system are newly available.

Pros:
  • Sharp handling, strong standard engine, comfortable and practical interior.
Cons:
  • Continuously variable transmission detracts from performance, SE model rides harshly, no third-row seat.

  • Superb midsize SUV - 2005 Nissan Murano

Bought our new Nissan Murano S AWD about 3 weeks ago. Came with the power seat package and few other extras for $27k. We test drove several other SUVs including the Liberty, Durango, Tribeca, Explorer, 4 runner, etc and although the Murano offers no third row, it is very comfortable, easily outhandles all of the other SUVs by a wide margin, offer seamless and very strong acceleration with the superb CVT transmission and gets respectable mpg. Currently which over the first 1k miles is at 22mpg. Not bad for a 250hp SUV. Although this SUV is not made for off road activity, its AWD is well suited for slick/wet roads. Best vehicle I have personally owned to date.

Fun to drive, mostly a well thought out vehicle. Would be nice to have auto driving lights and wipers that you can easily clean around. Love the remote entry, inteligent key feature. The CVT transmission is nice, seems to be plenty of power and very smooth. Being a truck / SUV guy, this is as close to a "car" as I want to get. Has been a good purchase.

The only bad thing I see so far is that if you have the rear windows down by themselves you get a sound that is like a loud rumbling noice. Very unbearable only goes away by opening the front windows. Poor design!!! Other then that I love this vehicle!!

  • Pleased with my purchase - 2005 Nissan Murano

I was in the market for an SUV style because I needed a more room...I discovered the Murano inadvertantly. The more I looked at it the more appealing it was to me...Id describe it as very comfortable to drive and it is easy to access...no stooping or climbing to get in...I am very happy with the colors I chose for the interior/exterior. The mileage is not too bad either...I have an 80 mi/day commute and I figured Id have to sacrifice a little bit in order to get what I wanted, but it really hasnt been too much of a sacrafice afterall. It is a sturdy and very reliable car and I would definately recommend it to anyone in need of room/comfort without the typical SUV/Truck automobile feel.

  • Dream come true! - 2005 Nissan Murano

Id avoided buying into the whole SUV lifestyle...until I met "Murray". What a delight this vechicle has turned out to be! The ride is excellent, the power generous despite the occassional report by others that the CVT drains the V6s power. My husband (a die-hard Ford pickup man) has admitted Murray has even won his heart...especially when he gets the opportunity to leave other folks in the dust with their mouths hanging open in surprise of the Muranos ability to get up and GO when asked. Some catch up just to see what just passed them...besides the smiling driver.

Not only does this car look great it is fun to drive. Plenty of get up and go. Has all the advantages of an SUV without the poor gas milage.

  • this is the coolest vehicle ever - 2005 Nissan Murano

Fuel economy for me with a fwd has been a consistet 22-23mpg. Not sure what others are saying about cvt sluggish in traffic, as when stomping on the gas you could get whiplash...awesome get up and go. ALso a very smooth ride with great handling ,not to mention a gorgeous vehicle. In my 25 years of driving and after 15,000 miles on my murano, this vehicle is an A ++ !

  • I love my Murano - 2005 Nissan Murano

I have had my Murano just over a year now. I truly love this car. It is very comfortable inside and easy to drive. The CVT makes it drive like it is on Skis. Everyone that rides in my car comments on how comfortable the seats are and how refined the interior is.

  • Poor Build Quality Means Failing Parts - 2005 Nissan Murano
    By -

Good mechanicals and style have been offset by lots of design and quality problems. Defective power passenger window, power outlet in front, broken drivers seat motor (big $1,000 problem, Nissan wants to replace full seat for plastic gear in motor, universal failure), grille chrome plating bubbling off, lots of squeaks and rattles. Im only putting 2,800 miles a year on a $40,000+ car, and is already showing lots of problems. What will happen at 15,000 or 20,000 miles?
