This Year's Model Updates:

Not satisfied with the current crop of crossover SUVs? Nissan rolls out the newest car-based SUV, the Murano. It boasts a powerful V6 engine and distinctive styling.

Pros:
  • Very good use of interior space, unique styling inside and out, smooth and powerful engine.
Cons:
  • No third-row seating, SE model rides harshly, gets pricey with options.

  • I love this car - 2003 Nissan Murano

We test drove every competitor before getting this. Have taken it on a 3500 mile trip - excellent comfort and easily to get in and out of. Great leg room. We did not want the 3rd seat so we were happy to find this. Attention to detail is excellent. No trouble - 10000 miles to date - couple of small items dealt with immediately by dealer.

Nissan has really outdone them selves with this one! Excellent build quality and attention to details. The outside design is just a work of art - really draws attention where ever you go. All the options one could ever want in a luxury SUV. The 3.5L 245hp engine teamed with the CVT transmission has got to be one of the smoothest out there - just seamless power! The 18" wheels, xenon headlights, navigation system, Bose stereo system, adjustable pedals, heated seats, etc, etc, just add to the pleasure of driving this beautiful vehicle. I think the Murano deserves to be in a class by its self!

  • Love at first sight! - 2003 Nissan Murano

Weve had our Murano for two weeks now and we love it. This is the only SUV that my wife and I could agree on. We looked at all of them. I find myself looking for reasons to go places just so that I can drive it. Its only flaw is the cabin pressure that is created when only the back widows are down while moving.

  • The Z of SUVs - 2003 Nissan Murano

The Murano handles, accelerates, and brakes like (or better than) a mid-size sedan. Acceleration is outstanding, and interior cabin noise is amazingly low. Style is great- if you dont want a box on wheels, take a look at the Murano.

  • Great replacement for the Maxima - 2003 Nissan Murano
    By -

I purchased the Murano because I needed better traction in the snow than my 97 Maxima could give me. So far, the car has been great. Fuel economy is not stellar, not even to EPA specs but the Maxima never made it that high either. I have a few of the usual Nissan rattles here and there, but its a Nissan, not Toyota, so no complaints here. The power port is very poorly placed - in the center console and on the passenger side - they are both inconvenient for charging cell phones. The rear hatch power port does not function unless the ignition is on ACC - another poor design.

I have had my Murano for 2 weeks now and I love it. It is all that I thought it would be. I hope that it holds up the way I think it will :)

  • Great for most, perfect for me. - 2003 Nissan Murano

Great looks, great ride, extraordinary CVT transmission. This is a drivers SUV, the first one I have ever driven, you can take a corner like a sports sedan without being pushed tward the outside door. Quality and refinedment inside the vehicle is top notch leather or cloth. But the real plus here is the transmission. The CVT is incredable, so smooth and powerful. The transmission does all the work so the engine never revs hard resulting in an overall quiet ride. The Murano is very functional with a ton of room inside. To sum it up the Murano is fast and functional for an SUV. Rather than being half car half truck IT IS HALF CAR HALF SUV.

  • Excellent All Rounder - 2003 Nissan Murano

I have consistently for the past 4 months including winter driving gotten 18 mpg city. For a solid cross over AWD with a V-6 in excess of 240 hp, there is not a competitor that really offers any better unless you look at hybrids. I bought mine used with low miles (29k). It is a very competent and comfortable vehicle. On worn OEM tires it performs well in 10 inch deep snow in the canyon roads west of Boulder. This has been rectified in later years. Better MPG than Pilot, Highlander, 4Runner. I spent months researching!

  • Used to an SUV but want more like a car - 2003 Nissan Murano

I love the adjustable Gas pedals in my 2003 Nissan Murano. It has nice pick up, its super fast. Its gas mileage is better then most SUVs. The Bose stereo system is awesome.

  • Murano Observations after One Month - 2003 Nissan Murano

Absolutely love it. Replaced the trusty 1997 Toy RAV4 with this and never looked back. Great handling. Good hwy power. Lots of room. Great sound system. Would recommend it to anyone, especially in the Pearl White color.I have a BMW X5 and the Murano handles very similar, has about the same power and has much more creature comforts than the X5 for $10,000 less!!
