Overview & Reviews
The Nissan Murano was one of the first midsize crossovers introduced in the United States and quickly became a popular alternative to more traditional SUVs thanks to its taut, carlike driving character and avant-garde styling. Later Nissan Muranos are notable for their higher-quality interiors, updated technology features and higher fuel economy ratings.
New or used, the Murano is definitely worth a look if you're on the hunt for a midsize crossover with seating for five. In reviews, our editors have generally praised this Nissan's sophisticated appearance, stylish and comfortable interior and strong acceleration. Middling cargo capacity and poor rearward visibility are our main complaints about the Nissan Murano. You'll find competing models that are better on one or both of these counts, but most won't match the Murano's combination of performance and style.

A Crossover Doesnt Get Any Better! - 2003 Nissan Murano
By Letmegotoyou - July 18 - 2:00 amThere is not one thing I would change on this vehicle. I just wished I had gotten the AWD, but it wasnt available in the color I wanted when I went to the dealership. I buy a new vehicle every 2 years and I did thorough research and test drove 4 different SUVS, and clearly made the right decision and I say that 14,000 miles later.

2005 Murano - 2005 Nissan Murano
By Race Fan - July 11 - 10:20 pmWe traded my 2003 350Z for the Murano when my husband had a serious heart attack in July of 2004. I wasnt sure I would be happy with this car because I have always driven sports cars. However, this has proven to be a wonderful car in town and on the road. We took our first trip from Atlanta to Cedar Key,FL. in March and it was a delight. I love all the space in the car which made packing so simple compared to a trunk.. I didnt want a big SUV that seems some women drivers have a problem driving but this size is perfect. I guess you can tell I REALLY like this Murano.

A lemon - 2003 Nissan Murano
By Greatly Disappointed - July 6 - 8:30 pm2003 Murano has had nothing but problems. Have replaced hatchback lock, rear wiper motor/blade, transmission, radiator, headlight, transfer case for a total of $6,000. The transmission was still under warranty. If it hadnt, that would have been another $4,000. Powertrain only warrantied to 60,000 so transfer case cost me $3,700. Nissan and dealership refused any assistance on repair cost despite well-documented history of these known problems for this model year. Dealer told me I should have bought the extended warranty when it was offered to me.

Great SUV - 2010 Nissan Murano
By Bill - July 4 - 6:13 amOnly 900 miles but love my Murano. Replaced a 2007 Honda CR-V. The Murano is much more solid and quiet vehicle than the Honda. Great features. Considered a Infinit FX-35 and Audi Q5 but got the Nissan with the same equipment for much less. Rear view camera system is very quick when shifting to reverse. Runs fine on regular gas.

Watch Out for the Drivers Seat - 2006 Nissan Murano
By newowner10 - July 4 - 4:58 amMurano in this vintage have a weak support on the drivers seat. If you look at the Chat area you will see what I mean. The part is $900 and you still need to install it or pay the labor.

Very Happy with Murano - 2009 Nissan Murano
By timd - June 30 - 3:50 pmBought about two weeks ago, and have to say im quite impressed with the nissan murano, very responsive 3.5 v6, love the cvt, always in the right spot no matter how youre driving. Handles like a car, kinda of sporty. Love the rear reclining seats. Averaging about 22 mpg combined when taking it easy, otherwise around 19 mpg which isnt bad at all for this size of SUV. Glad i purchased. very solid, quiet and comfortable ride.

What More Do You Want? - 2003 Nissan Murano
By Janalina - June 29 - 2:00 amNo one who owns this vehicle would give it less than an eight on a scale of one to ten. Compared to others in its class the design and technology of the Murano surpasses them all. Nissan has done their research and designed a reliable "crossover" vehicle for those of us who enjoy spending time in the outdoors, not driving all over it. The ride and handling of the SL is great -- like a car. Mileage has been at about 20 around town and about 24 highway. Not bad for such a roomy, powerful and solidly built vehicle. TEST DRIVE THE MURANO, then BUY IT! Yeah it isnt cheap, but you get what you pay for.

Refined fun - 2003 Nissan Murano
By kewllewk - June 29 - 2:00 amHow can you compare this vehicle to anything else? Well you cant! Nothing even comes close to what the Murano offers. If you love driving cars or spend a lot of time driving, then the Murano is a top choice. I compared over 20 different vehicles from Audis to Volvos including 4 door wagons, sedans and SUVs (sorry no vans!). Nothing will give you a better all around package that will satisfy 99% of your wants and needs for the way the average vehicle is used 99% of the time. Great looks, space, performance, exceptional comfort and fantastic design with amazing attention to detail. Take a look and be prepared to be surprised.
