Model Overview:

The Nissan Murano was one of the first midsize crossovers introduced in the United States and quickly became a popular alternative to more traditional SUVs thanks to its taut, carlike driving character and avant-garde styling. Later Nissan Muranos are notable for their higher-quality interiors, updated technology features and higher fuel economy ratings.

New or used, the Murano is definitely worth a look if you're on the hunt for a midsize crossover with seating for five. In reviews, our editors have generally praised this Nissan's sophisticated appearance, stylish and comfortable interior and strong acceleration. Middling cargo capacity and poor rearward visibility are our main complaints about the Nissan Murano. You'll find competing models that are better on one or both of these counts, but most won't match the Murano's combination of performance and style.

It has been an absolute pleasure driving my Nissan Murano for the past 3+ years. From the outside, it looks great and I never tire of admiring it as I cross a parking lot to get in. From the drivers seat, the inside looks great, too, but more importantly is very comfortable in all respects. The dash is well laid out and easy to read, day or night. Lots of storage compartments, in all sizes. And when I turn the key and drive, the best part of owning a Murano occurs. It is fun to drive. Handles well, both in accelerating and stopping. Runs very quietly and drives a straight line effortlessly. I enjoy every minute. Only routine service needed in 3+ years. Best car Ive ever owned.

  • I found the perfect vehicle - 2009 Nissan Murano

Forget the rest of the pack and go for the best! The Nissan Murano is the perfect vehicle for all around driving. This is my second Murano. The first was a leased 2006, loaded with moon roof and leather. I loved it so much that I purchased the 2009. The problem with the Murano is that you will enjoy driving it so much that you will exceed your lease limits. So go and buy one! This is a road trip waiting to happen. I have driven in blinding snowstorms from Buffalo, NY, through the mountains of West Virginia, and onto the beach at St Simons, Georgia. This vehicle will take you up and down hills, through unploughed roads, and pass 18 wheelers like a bullet. It is fast. It is the perfect SUV!

  • No Regrets Here! - 2004 Nissan Murano

Living in the NE wanted something that would be good in bad weather - so AWD a must. Also looking for Nav system - Im a techie and like my toys. Murano combined both and a cool design at an attractive price. Looked at a Touareg also (traded in a VW on this purchase) - way overpriced for same feature set, and dealer told me flat-out I would get 9 mpg city on premium gas! No Thanks! Bought the Murano and have been very please. Gas mileage comparable to my VW Jetta, fun to drive, and a real looker. Some minor rattles and a seat adjustment problems early on that were quickly and courteously dealt with by the dealer to my satisfaction. I would highly recommend this car!

  • An Unexpected Treat - 2009 Nissan Murano

To quote the food critic guy on Top Chef, this car is like Tom Cruises performance on Tropic Thunder, an unexpected treat. My current mileage is a little under 900 miles after one month + 2 weeks of driving. No problems at all. Once I reached break in mileage (1500), Ill stop babying it and see what it can really do. Dealer wanted me to go for the S AWD for saving $$$ and I didnt need the extras that came with the SL. He was right. The car is sweet and gets a few looks. The factory stereo is OK but to get the Bose, had to go with Premium Pkg on the SL. Some sliding on turns. Front pillars are distracting. Will not disappoint. You get a lot for your money. Quiet. Peppy.

  • two tons of fun - 2009 Nissan Murano

I test drove infiniti, Lexus, Toyota. I kept looking at murano and for some reason moved on. But after going thru all the rest I came back. The exterior styling had been my initial attraction but the cft transmission had been the putoff. Boy was I wrong. This murano drives like an infiniti/Lexus. Soft ride with lots of pep and no hesitation. Flying on the interstate it glided effortlessly thru rush hour, dead quiet to wind & traffic noise. I hated to park it it was such fun.

Have owned for 6 weeks. Use for commuting to work, and have taken it on two trips (more than 800 miles round trip). Great performer, many thoughtful amenities, good gas mileage. Handles and rides like a car, but has the convenience and storage of an SUV (storage compares favorably to Explorer which we also own). Great features for the price, especially compared to crossovers from Lexus, Infiniti, Chrysler, Mercedes and BMW. (We looked at all of these before buying the Murano.) Nissan has always has good reliability, as far as we are concerned. (Owned a Pathfinder for 10 years and had no problems. Nissan reliability has also been highly rated by Consumer Reports.)

  • Best Vehicle Ive owned. - 2006 Nissan Murano
    By -

The 2006 Nissan Murano provides solid performance, great comfort, remarkable versatility and better than 20 miles per gallon economy. Road noise is low, the ride is firm, but comfortable, and the handling is superb. The vehicle came from the factory with perfect fit and finish, and no maintenance issues in its first 5000 miles of use. The engine/CVT transmission combination is responsive, fun to drive, and smooth. The interior is comfortable, very roomy, and well thought out. The heater/air conditioning controls are easy to use and the instrument panel/front dash is well engineered and attactive. Seating is very comfortable and cargo capacity is wonderful.

  • Love my Murano!! - 2016 Nissan Murano

I was in between getting a Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited, which I previously had, or the Murano SV. Suffice it to say that I am so happy I went with the Murano!!! This is one of the most luxurious automobile I have ever owned. The way it handles the road is outstanding, not to mention the sleek exterior. The interior is so comfortable & roomy. The drivers seat cradles your body in a way that is so comfortable & with the lumbar setting its like a dream. The updated electronics with the Navigation System, Bluetooth, Bose system, Instrument panel, etc. is all so high tech. Im still learning how to work it all & discover something new each day. By far this is one of the best automobiles I have ever owned. I highly recommend the Murrano SV!
