Model Overview:

The Nissan Murano was one of the first midsize crossovers introduced in the United States and quickly became a popular alternative to more traditional SUVs thanks to its taut, carlike driving character and avant-garde styling. Later Nissan Muranos are notable for their higher-quality interiors, updated technology features and higher fuel economy ratings.

New or used, the Murano is definitely worth a look if you're on the hunt for a midsize crossover with seating for five. In reviews, our editors have generally praised this Nissan's sophisticated appearance, stylish and comfortable interior and strong acceleration. Middling cargo capacity and poor rearward visibility are our main complaints about the Nissan Murano. You'll find competing models that are better on one or both of these counts, but most won't match the Murano's combination of performance and style.

  • Ultimate Getaway From the world - 2011 Nissan Murano

I am a long time owner within the Nissan Corp. But this SUV tops all others who try and match it, for its price. I bought the LE, because I figured, why not go all the way, or just not go at all. I love this truck, there isnt anything that I wouldnt want to change, except for the fuel economy, many other car companies have bigger SUVs, getting better gas mileage. I understand there is a diesel one in Europe, but who knows how long that will take to get to the US. But all in all...what a great truck, test drive one, and youll fall in love with it, the moment you get in, and the leather seats embrace you, and keep you safe on the road. Enjoy, and happy hunting for that perfect car.

  • Excellent Car - 2004 Nissan Murano

Ive had the murano for 5 months now, and have almost 7000 miles on it. On average, I get about 20 MPH around town and on 3 trips to Lake Tahoe, it has averaged 23MPG. The styling is GREAT, the build quality is amazing, and I cant recommend this car highly enough. I am 62, and on a recent trip I rode in the back seat and was very comfortable.

  • Gotta love it! - 2010 Nissan Murano

I just picked up my 2010 LE with everything except the DVD package. It is well worth the price. Interior and exterior are phenomenal! The fuel economy is what it says and therefore one cannot be disappointed. The Bose speakers sound wonderful, the seats are comfortable, and everything inside feels just right. I could not be more happy with my purchase!

  • Lurching/Acceleration Delay - 2003 Nissan Murano
    By -

After taking the vehicle to both the local Nissan dealership and trusted tranny guy - neither could find any problems. Yet when the car is warm and you run into stop & go traffic (I live in So. Cal.) which is a regularity, you will experience the lurch/delay. Luckily no accidents! However, putting it into park and restarting the vehicle seems to "reboot" the problem and it will be okay for a while & then resurface when you least expect it.

  • SUV Heavan - 2004 Nissan Murano

This has to be the best built SUV for the money. Gorgeous looks, fun to drive, great fuel economy for its size. This SUV cost less to insure that full size SUVs and can tow up to 3500 lbs. Extrememly roomy design, with a great 6-CD stereo and avialable satelite radio. Love the leather package that includes sun-roof and power options. Very convenient adjustable pedals is a great feature. The kids love this car, only wish I had gotten the LCD TV option as well.

  • Numero Uno mid size SUV - 2003 Nissan Murano
    By -

I have been looking into mid sized SUV for about 3 years now and I am very glad I waited to 2003 to make it my buying year and bought the Murano. After dreaming about and test driving the RX 300, I am happy to say that the Murano puts it to shame. The drive quality is undescribable and one that needs to be experienced to really believe. The transmission is very smmoth and you can feel the power of the engine from the moment you step on the gas pedal. 245 hp and torque is availble quite readily and the ease of control over so much power is impeccable. This will definitely be a top ten SUV in a very short space of time.

  • Fell in love after the test drive... - 2003 Nissan Murano

Shopped Honda Pilot and Toyota Highlander before purchasing Murano. The test drive won me over. If your looking for the same old, same old then stick with Honda and Toyota. If your looking for a new stylish design with all the right eronomics, this is the vehicle. Built on the Altima platform, plenty of safety features.

  • 2006 Murano S FWD @9 Years old and 150,000 + miles - 2006 Nissan Murano

Overall, this is an absolutely great car with very few drawbacks. Upgrades I have added: - Full entertainment system with Bluetooth, USB port, CD, DVD, radio double DIN system with new aftermarket faceplate to replace the air conditioning controls. Kenwood Audio & Metra 99-7612A models - Tow hitch package from Curt - Tinted Rear passenger and trunk doors (purely aesthetic) - 2-way remote starter and full alarm system from Prestige Negatives of the car: - Headlight restoration products from 3M used due to constant foggy appearance (considering full replacement to HID or similar) - Had to replace bracket in drivers side seat (About 3 hour install but part was free due to recall) - Many issues with the gas tank at the beginning of its life which have now subsided after 2 full replacements at the dealership under warranty - Expensive CVT transmission fluid flushes (about $300 every 50k miles) - Fuel pump sensor is faulty in winter weather -- havent run out of gas yet since I keep track of my miles, lived with it for 2 years The car is very smooth riding, and quiet as can be. This thing eats up road on long trips with the CVT transmission and good cruise controls. That being said, the CVT is a power sucker and the acceleration does suffer -- but mid range power is solid with the Overdrive Mode. The back row has the most leg room of ANY car that I have ever sat in! It is almost the size of a 3 row car, but with only 2 rows, there is massive room in the trunk and 2nd row. The roof height is great for tall guys (I am 63") I am right around 152,500 miles right now and these issues that have happened are very minor in my opinion. Besides having the AWD version, there is absolutely nothing else that I would want on this car. I plan on keeping it for as long as humanly possible. Might I mention that the new Tesla Model X looks very similar to this here car.. coincidence? I think not! Great looking car all around, mine is the Metallic Silver btw.

  • Never again - 2004 Nissan Murano

I have only had my Murano for a year and a half since buying it as a used vehicle. I have already had to replace the controlling arms, tie-rods, and muffler. Now I have found out that there is an engine problem and will require around $3000 to $4000 to fix. I am highly disappointed and will not purchase another Murano. There should not be this many problems with a car before you hit 100,000 miles.
