Model Overview:

The Nissan Murano was one of the first midsize crossovers introduced in the United States and quickly became a popular alternative to more traditional SUVs thanks to its taut, carlike driving character and avant-garde styling. Later Nissan Muranos are notable for their higher-quality interiors, updated technology features and higher fuel economy ratings.

New or used, the Murano is definitely worth a look if you're on the hunt for a midsize crossover with seating for five. In reviews, our editors have generally praised this Nissan's sophisticated appearance, stylish and comfortable interior and strong acceleration. Middling cargo capacity and poor rearward visibility are our main complaints about the Nissan Murano. You'll find competing models that are better on one or both of these counts, but most won't match the Murano's combination of performance and style.

  • This is not your Daddys car - 2004 Nissan Murano

Ive put 22k on my Murano in the past year. I have to say that Ive loved every minute of it. My greatest problem is not getting tickets now. It drives so well (smooth, quite, strong), that I forget Im speeding. I also commute a windy mountain hwy every day. ITS A BLAST!!!

  • Fabulous car, minor problems - 2003 Nissan Murano

Drove for 2 years, have 45,000 miles. Still an excellent, luxury SUV. Very comfortable, excellent performance in snow. Gas mileage 19-20 mpg. Minor paint chips, recommend a clear bra. Unfortunately, when warranty expired, CD player quit working. "Custom" BOSE system will cost $400 to "re-build" since no "replacement" is available.

  • More for the money - 2006 Nissan Murano

I went for it. I bought a car due to the ride quality, and not due to prestige. The murano was more car for the money with the current lease offer from nissan.

  • Another enjoyable Nissan - 2007 Nissan Murano

This 2007 Murano SL AWD is our 8th Nissan in a row as our 3rd car. It was purchased for week-end trips to our lake house, but ends up being driven much more.We have had 4 Pathfinders and when they changed the style in 2007 (too boxy)we switched to the Murano.Although we have owned 6 BMWs and 5 Mercedes, my wife enjoys driving the Murano (especially in bad weather. It is fully loaded and offers good comfort and convenience for the price. The CVT takes a while getting used to, but averages approx. 23 mpg with cruise control ant 75 mph. It is used for hauling small loads between our houses, but is great for daily use as well.Although its time to change cars again, she says lets just keep it.

  • An excellent cross-over - 2009 Nissan Murano

We bought ours new in 2008 and have used it for about 40,000 miles. We loved it when we bought it and having used it for city as well as highway driving, we have grown even more fond of it. The ride is powerful yet comfortable and reasonably quite. It couldve been sportier, but thats just a personal taste. The interiors are great, especially the leather seats and the sound system. Theres enough cargo space for a family of 3 to 4. There have been no problems with the vehicle in the last 3 years, except for one of the electronic keys that stopped working. In summary, get one if you like the drive of a car and utility of SUV. Itll be a great ride!

  • LOVE IT!! - 2003 Nissan Murano

I love my Murano. I bought it because of the unique styling. I have all options with the exception of the nav system. The Bose stereo is excellent. Love the power seats with the memory. Have 3 kids and they have plenty of room in the back. I cant complain about anything. As far as some of the other reviews, If you open the sunroof to the setting that has the white mark (different from the other settings), you will not experience the cabin noise. I ride with the sunroof open and all windows up almost daily and do not have a problem. Also, there is definitely a rear window washer. I think some people need to read the owners manual. I get avg. 20 mpg and drive city and highway.

  • Best Crossover SUV - 2004 Nissan Murano
    By -

This is three vehicles in one: (a) rides like a luxury car (b) utility of an SUV (c) handling of a sports car Fantastic value for the money. Engine and CVT drivetrain make this superior to anything out there. Drove an FX45 and decided to save $15,000 plus get more cargo room with the Murano. Keep trying to make the tires squeel or lose control, but havent managed it yet. Just a joy to drive.

Had a 2001 Pathfinder for three years. Perfect SUV...no problem at all. Changed to Murano because it was the new car in the block. Drives really well until we hit a pothole! Big or small holes, you can feel the bumps and hear the thumps! Especially in New York City. Nissan should either make the car a little higher with plusher seats and better suspension to soak up the bumps.

  • It doesnt get any better ... - 2003 Nissan Murano

I bought this magnificent machine "love at first sight". No need for leather, the material is like no other, more of suede feel than anything else. The standard features surpass Lexus and BMW as far as interior comfort, design, and hands on instrumentation. 4-foot daughter to my 6.5-foot son to my full- grown lab, thereÂ’s room galore. Exterior, its like no other. It ownÂ’s the niche between luxury SUV design and ultra sport sedan, revolutionizing this market class. Lastly, who ever heard of an SUV doing 7 sec. 0-60 times, still getting 21-avg. mpg, oh yeah, all under $30K. Me thats who, see ya!

  • Best car I have ever had!! Love it!! - 2009 Nissan Murano
