Model Overview:

The Nissan Murano was one of the first midsize crossovers introduced in the United States and quickly became a popular alternative to more traditional SUVs thanks to its taut, carlike driving character and avant-garde styling. Later Nissan Muranos are notable for their higher-quality interiors, updated technology features and higher fuel economy ratings.

New or used, the Murano is definitely worth a look if you're on the hunt for a midsize crossover with seating for five. In reviews, our editors have generally praised this Nissan's sophisticated appearance, stylish and comfortable interior and strong acceleration. Middling cargo capacity and poor rearward visibility are our main complaints about the Nissan Murano. You'll find competing models that are better on one or both of these counts, but most won't match the Murano's combination of performance and style.

When my husbands company changed their policy on taking company vehicles home, I had to sell my 350Z and go back to driving a SUV. After test driving just about every SUV out there, I decided on the Murano. With two back to back major storms in one week here in Denver, my Murano is being put through the tests. And I must say it has performed great. I feel very comfortable driving it in the amount of snow we have received. I chose the SE model because I like a firmer ride without feeling like I am driving a truck. The ride is very quiet and smooth. Cup holders are nice and deep and hold my Venti sized drinks just fine.

  • Italian Style, German handling, Nissan?! - 2004 Nissan Murano

Judging by the looks I assumed I coudnt afford this vehicle. When I saw one at the dealership I was amazed. There is nothing else with comparable amenities / performance / style in this class. My ideal vehicle is a VW Toureg w/ V10 diesel, but this is close for now and only lacks slightly in overall build quality and cost about 20K less!

  • So far so good - 2004 Nissan Murano

Curb appeal makes this vehicle stand out. I have had a number of people comment on the styling when they first see it. This is a fun car to drive. Great handling and acceleration on the highway. Nice sound system as well. My only real complaint is the gas mileage is 16/20 mpg and not 20/24 as rated. The CVT also slows the acceleration on cold day.

I purchased a 2007 platinum AWD SL back in March of this year. The car was mainly for my wife, but as a guy, I must say I really enjoy driving it. The Murano has tons of passenger room and by simply folding down the seats you get a lot of cargo space. The CVT is also great, you cant even feel it shift. Ive read reports that say the Murano lacks performance, I would have to disagree. The CVT is both smooth and powerful... not a race car, but it can get out of its own way. The back up camera is a must and very helpful. We purchased the tour package that comes with everything from a sunroof/ HID lights to adjustable pedals. The interior is very stylish, but so is the outside.

  • Fun??? Yep!!! - 2004 Nissan Murano

The Murano has more than enough performance for a vehicle in this class. Fuel economy vs performance is better than average and more than acceptable. Overall fit and finish is excellent. Front & side visibility is good. The SE rides a bit firm but it handles very well.Braking is excellent and the CVT is neat! The Murano test drive sold me.

  • Passenger seat to high - 2016 Nissan Murano

If you are 58" your head will hit the ceiling. No way to lower passenger seat. Horrible design. I cannot ever ride in passenger seat as my head hits the top and Im only 5-10

  • The best in its class.... - 2006 Nissan Murano

Fantastic SUV for its price!!! And it has excellent steering and cornering for SUV... Much better than some of the sports cars and sedans. It has powerful silky smooth quiet engine but CVT takes some powers away from it.

  • Good drive - 2004 Nissan Murano

Prior to purchasing a Murano, I drove a Nissan Maxima, which I like for its sportiness. The Murano is smooth and sporty just like its Maxima/Altima crossover. If you like the Maxima/Altima feel but want something safer / bigger, this is the vehicle to own.
