Model Overview:

The Nissan Murano was one of the first midsize crossovers introduced in the United States and quickly became a popular alternative to more traditional SUVs thanks to its taut, carlike driving character and avant-garde styling. Later Nissan Muranos are notable for their higher-quality interiors, updated technology features and higher fuel economy ratings.

New or used, the Murano is definitely worth a look if you're on the hunt for a midsize crossover with seating for five. In reviews, our editors have generally praised this Nissan's sophisticated appearance, stylish and comfortable interior and strong acceleration. Middling cargo capacity and poor rearward visibility are our main complaints about the Nissan Murano. You'll find competing models that are better on one or both of these counts, but most won't match the Murano's combination of performance and style.

I LOVE the 09 Murano. This is my first vehicle that I have purchased on my own. I love the way it drives, looks, the back up camera and the truck in general. I wish I couldve gotten the dual panel moonroof. Regardless this is the best vehicle Nissan has created. GOOD JOB

This is my second Nissan. First one was a 98 Pathfinder that had 210,000 miles. That was very reliable and no major issues. This one had power steering fluid hose leak at 45K miles ($400). At 60K, an electronic board limited my power to almost none. When I pressed on gas, the car would go very slow. ($450). Battery drained too fast and on my 4th. ($90 a pop) Visor would just fall on its own ($400 bucks for a visor at the dealer??? come on). Two leaks, one from engine oil, one from transmission. ($850). Engine oxygen sensor failed (($450). Now, my drive train feels very rough and certainly doesnt feel as smooth as before). Im scared to go to the dealer and see what they find.

  • FUN! - 2005 Nissan Murano

After driving a minivan for 10 years, I was ready for something different and the Murano is it. It is truly fun to drive, very maneuverable, has quick acceleration, and did I say fun to drive? The Bose sound system is excellent and the sunroof is a pleasure. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for something besides the Lexus/Infiniti/Volvo pack of mid- size SUVs.

Love my new Murano SL AWD. Being from Mich driving in snow was a big consideration for buying a new car and this handles great. It feels like a well planted/solid car when you drive it. Interior is roomy and stylish. Great for kids.

If youre looking for a mid size suv or crossover and dont at least test out the Murano, you would be foolish. We can afford luxury brands, however went ahead and purchased a Nissan. This car is an Infiniti in disguise. First we looked at the Audi Q5 and BMW X3, both we liked, great handling and quality but 10g more and premium gas. We then looked at the Lexus RX which we almost bought at $60,000. The NX is cheaper but to cramped inside. Off to Acura, RDX was to small and we had no need for 3 row seating, so didnt really consider the MDX. We also really liked the new Mercedes GLC but at 60g fully loaded was just to much and I couldnt adjust to that screen plastered on the dashboard like an after thought. My wife saw a new Murano at her work and we decided to go test drive one. Let me tell you, this car has plenty of quick acceleration. I like that it still has a V6 when everyone else is going to 4 cylinder turbos that need premium gas. Out of all the cars we test drove, the Murano was definitely the most comfortable. Sure it doesnt handle like a German car but it rides very smooth and the seats are awesome. I actually love the CVT transmission, it will surprise you and shifts gears (without gears) very well. This car has every option compared to a 50,000 or more crossover/suv. Its not to big but definitely bigger then the NX, RAV4 and Santa Fe. Im not a fan of the Nissan Connect, but Spotify and Pandora work great. Navigation is very well done and the all around view cameras are awesome. My android phone works flawlessly with the system and text display. I hear Apple though, not as well and needs to be plugged into the usb port to use the apps. However my wifes IPhone works great with Bluetooth for music and hands free phone but not for the apps. We definitely wanted a crossover that had remote smart phone starting but the key fob remote start surprised me on how well it works through buildings and up to almost a football field away line of site. I do wish it had Apple car play or Android auto, but overall were very satisfied. The Murano will surprise you on what you get for 40,000 loaded out the door. Seriously if youre shopping for a crossover or suv, at least take a look at the Murano, Nissan really surprised us.

  • LOVE my new Murano - 2004 Nissan Murano

I traded in a Sport Trac (my first SUV) for my fun Murano. The features are cool, with detail to the creature comforts. The car drives like a sports car, hugging the road, not feeling top heavy on turns. The continuosly variable transmission feels different at first, but becomes natural after driving it a few times. This car truly is a match between sporty and practicle. I highly recommend it!

  • Only a little disappointed - 2007 Nissan Murano

After reading positive reviews, I purchased a Murano. I like, not love, this car. It has great style, comfort, easy and fun to drive. The overall look, storage areas, rear camera, intelligent key, smooth trans, roominess and MANY other quality features makes this a very acceptable car. However, my disappoinment is the bumpy ride over rough roads and the low fuel economy. I knew from other reviews that the fuel economy wasnt great, but I seem to be one of few who is unhappy with the rougher ride on bumpy pavement, certainly NOT highways. Also, I often accidently open the center console with my elbow. Bad placement of 2 sensitive push buttons which control this compartment.

I have owned this 09 Murano SL for 18 months. I am happy overall with this purchase, however I have experienced a few issues. After 6 months my brakes started squeaking, they finally fixed them by replacing the brake pads and lubricating the rotors. The brake pads were not worn, the problem was in the rotors. A few months later, the car started to rattle in many different locations. The service department is still trying to figure out the issues. My Murano SL is loaded with great goodies, more than my husbands Mercedes ML350, but its just not built as well.

This is probably the best SUV on the road now! I love it. No one need to look further than the Murano. It has everything anyone could want! Seriously.

Owned all types of cars, 4Runners, Trucks, PT Cruiser and Subarus. This by far is the best I have driveen. Dont need three seats nor a minivan type of vehicle. Want smooth performance and excellent seating for 2. This delivers all and more for the price. Glad someone got it right. Wont drive it off road either that what I hve my truck for so back off on off road ability. This will go anywhere I want to do.
