Overview & Reviews
For 2005, the Murano receives a rollover sensor for the side curtain airbags, and a new S model with fewer features and a lower price. New options packages and an Intelligent Key entry and ignition system are newly available.
- Sharp handling, strong standard engine, comfortable and practical interior.
- Continuously variable transmission detracts from performance, SE model rides harshly, no third-row seat.

dont overlook Murano - 2005 Nissan Murano
By dadoftay - November 20 - 8:46 pmThis is a great crossover SUV. Ride is great, handling is more sporty than most others in class. Standard features list is impressive. Room inside will shock you. Lots of power on tap. CVT is nice but takes a little snap away from an otherwise strong drivetrain. Manuverability is excellent. Interior feels very rich and luxurious. Definitley look at this vehicle in your search.

This is a great vehicle! - 2005 Nissan Murano
By Nissan Fan - November 16 - 7:30 pmThe Murano has to be the best value on the road. I leased my Murano in February of 2005 for a great price! It drives like a car (handling, acceleration) and has the storage and off-road capabilities of an SUV. I previously owned a Nissan Xterra SE and my wife had purchased a 2004 Nissan Maxima SL in the fall of 2003. I loved the way the Maxima drove, but I needed the cargo space and the Murano was the perfect fit. I also looked at the Acura MDX, BMW X3 and the Volvo XC90, but the Murano was a far better value.

Lots of Zip and GO! - 2005 Nissan Murano
By SubMan - October 29 - 5:10 amI cant believe that Edmunds.com claims the CVT transmission is "power sapping!" Since it locks up at 12% VS 30% for a normal auto transmission, how can that be "power sapping?" Their testers must not have stuck their foot to the floor and watched this baby perform! Its a great delight to drive. Im a big guy - 6 and 280 lbs and I fit this SUV well. Lots of leg and head room - more than the two Explorers I owned and about 20% better gas mileage, and a whole lot better looking, too. My overall average, as reported by the trip computer, since owning the vehicle is about 20.5mpg. Thats all driving, town (which is most of my driving) and some highway. A great vehicle - wish Id bought early.

Pretty good little SUV for the $$$ - 2005 Nissan Murano
By tychux - October 16 - 5:13 amBought it right off the boat from Japan sight unseen. Since day 1-Oct. 2005, weve had little to complain about. Sure, the drivers sunshade is faulty, but an inconspicuous bungee cord fixes that safety issue. Rear brakes lasted 50,000, front brakes are still great at 74,000 miles! Front lower control arms and engine mounts have all been replaced under extended warranty. 2 new batteries and 2 new sets of tires in 6 years due to Arizona heat. I drive 65 miles/day min. through farmland and county roads at up to 75mph and have no degredation in ride. Engine and CVT still runs good and smooth. Xenon lights, Sirius and Nav all without issues also.

Good car - 2005 Nissan Murano
By Dobs - October 14 - 8:40 amWe love our Murano, because of its reliability and strong engine. We would buy another one if they would change the seat design. After long drives, it becomes very uncomfortable. Other than that, it is a great car for a family, couple or single.

Me Likey My Murano - 2005 Nissan Murano
By waits211 - October 12 - 9:56 pmMurano is better than I thought. I test drove it, actually wanted the fx35 but wife talked me down. I enjoy everything about this car except for 2 things. 1)blind spot. I put in a small mirror on the passenger side mirror and that fixed it 2)gas milage. I expected this to do much better than my pathfinder but it doesnt. I do all city driving. Stop and go. I get around 16mpg. Highway puts me in the low-mid 20s. I dont use premium and dont feel a difference when I do. All in all Nissan builds great cars but the dealerships and service is terrible.

What was I thinking? - 2005 Nissan Murano
By fancypants1 - October 3 - 9:06 pmI traded my lovely trouble free Honda Accord for this 2005 Murano SL with 82k miles. Was told the previous owner babied this vehicle. The leather is practically perfect so I was like ok. Week 1--the battery dies. I replaced a 2005 Nissan Factory battery in 2013!! With a J-05 code on it. Even after I replaced the battery the car wouldnt start. I tell the dealer I bought it from they cant look at it until monday. I finally get it started but I smell gas just briefly. I make it to dealer only to have the service guy tell me he cant look at it. grrr. I drive back and my gas level depletes pretty quickly. Glad I made it home. I ended up walking to work as I am now out of gas.

need more safety - 2005 Nissan Murano
By mfbf410 - September 5 - 7:10 amWe recently purchased our 2005 Nissan Murano SL. We are enjoying the ride. Wish that it got better gas mileage. However, more so than that I wish that it had automatice door locks. We didnt notice this when test driving...actually I assumed it had this feature since older vehicles that we own do have this nice safety feature. When talking to our sales person he informed me that no Nissans have auto door locks. I believe this would be a great addition in future years. In the meantime I am training myself to lock the doors when I get in.

One fantastic vehicle to own & drive. - 2005 Nissan Murano
By Mike - August 24 - 5:56 pmSince buying my Murano in February 2005, I know I made the right choice. So far, I love everything about it. The CVT transmission is very smooth. It took me some time to get used to the orange/yellow dash lights. For a crossover I think its one of the best on the road. Fun to drive and very peppy engine.

Outstanding!! - 2005 Nissan Murano
By Nick - July 27 - 2:13 amHave owned Ford products for the past 30 years. Guess what? I am changing to the Nissan products. Simple as that! Although I will still own and buy a Mustang Convertible. I am totally pleased with the 2005 Murano. Couldnt be more pleased!
