Model Overview:

The Nissan Murano was one of the first midsize crossovers introduced in the United States and quickly became a popular alternative to more traditional SUVs thanks to its taut, carlike driving character and avant-garde styling. Later Nissan Muranos are notable for their higher-quality interiors, updated technology features and higher fuel economy ratings.

New or used, the Murano is definitely worth a look if you're on the hunt for a midsize crossover with seating for five. In reviews, our editors have generally praised this Nissan's sophisticated appearance, stylish and comfortable interior and strong acceleration. Middling cargo capacity and poor rearward visibility are our main complaints about the Nissan Murano. You'll find competing models that are better on one or both of these counts, but most won't match the Murano's combination of performance and style.

This is my first SUV and I am really impressed with the Vehicle. It has all the bells and whistle I could ever dream of in a car. I love the heated seats, the smooth ride and most of all the SAT radio with those awesome Bose speakers. I dont have anything to complain about, but everything to be thankful for. Glad I made this as my first choice for an SUV.

  • So far so good - 2009 Nissan Murano

Purchased 3 wks ago. No problems at all. None of the transmission or vibration issues others have complained about. Very smooth acceleration. Excellent fit and finish. Had leather installed, due to excessive price for useless featurs. Visibility not the best. Wish it had bluetooth with basic model. Hope to have this vehicle for a long time.

  • Do not buy one with a sunroof - 2010 Nissan Murano
    By -

I bought my Murano two months ago. It drives well. The salesman took me around the block at around 40-45 miles per hour. After the purchase i drove it home using the highway. The wind noise is absolutely intolerable. i took it back to my dealership and the service rep says its common in all Muranos with a sunroof and Nissan does not consider it a defect. Well please excuse me for so being annoyed for paying over 30K for a car and expecting excellence. The Nissan USA rep basically overwhelmed me with her kindness and all but told me to fly a Kite. Shame on you Nissan for selling me a substandard car. I will never buy Nissan and will pass the same advice to my close friends and relatives.

Ive really enjoyed the look, handling and ease of use with this vehicle. I enjoy everything from the rounded look of the car, to the smart styling inside. Everything is within easy reach for stereo use, to glove box. This is a very reliable mode of transportation, and Im proud to be a Nissan owner again.

  • Murano in snow - 2003 Nissan Murano

Great in all weather. I had some concerns about the new CVT trans but it was great in northern MI last week. snow up to the bumper and hills and it went well ( I put it in low and locked the wheels on some steep hills). Smoothest I have had on the highway and my wife has an MDX.

  • Great blend of sports car and SUV - 2004 Nissan Murano
    By -

Considering the size of the vehicle (It always looks smaller in pictures) this vehicle has tremedous pick-up and is quite nimble. Its not a sports car, but the point is how close it comes to feeling like one: remarkable for a SUV. Yes, the GPS option is way overpriced, but it works as advertised and is also way-cool. Overall the interior is well-thought out and elegantly designed. Some of the plastic pannels seem to mar and scratch too easily, which is a disappointment in an otherwise upscale enviroment You can tell the engineers were cognisant of the driver experience in every detail. An impressive turn for its first model year.

  • Dont buy a MURANO!!! - 2004 Nissan Murano
    By -

We purchased our 04 SL AWD fully loaded Murano new in the summer of 04. We just traded in the car at 164,545 miles this summer (2014) so I can provide a comprehensive history on this car. Within a couple of years the "leather" drivers seat was cracking badly on the sides. We had to replace the steering rack, two power steering lines and a sensor, an oil cooler seal, countless tires because the car never aligned properly and would make tires very loud. By the time the car was 6 years old the rattles and switch failures, car locks etc started to add up. We traded it in with lots of small problems and an oil leak. This is our first and last Nissan. Stay away!!

  • Two Thumbs Up - 2005 Nissan Murano

Press cons include power-robbing CVT-- ---which is inconsistent with 0-60/8.0 sec, and 25mpg figures. The seamless CVT provides precise speed control. The SE is harsher riding than desirable---wish I had opted for the SL model, but an exceptionally satisfying drivers car. (My other vehicle is an 04 E500 Benz.)
