Model Overview:

The Nissan Murano was one of the first midsize crossovers introduced in the United States and quickly became a popular alternative to more traditional SUVs thanks to its taut, carlike driving character and avant-garde styling. Later Nissan Muranos are notable for their higher-quality interiors, updated technology features and higher fuel economy ratings.

New or used, the Murano is definitely worth a look if you're on the hunt for a midsize crossover with seating for five. In reviews, our editors have generally praised this Nissan's sophisticated appearance, stylish and comfortable interior and strong acceleration. Middling cargo capacity and poor rearward visibility are our main complaints about the Nissan Murano. You'll find competing models that are better on one or both of these counts, but most won't match the Murano's combination of performance and style.

  • A few Improvements I would make - 2007 Nissan Murano

I have had my Murano almost 3 years now. I have loved this car. CVT I love, I drive my car in town for a living and I average almost 21 mpg. Seats are comfortable. I find the maintenance display troubling regarding the low tire pressure. I am suddenly having drivetrain issues that the dealer cant seem to fix, and the brakes are the most squeaky brakes I have ever had. The paint seems to chip and scratch very easily.

  • A Wise Consumer Choice For Me - 2007 Nissan Murano

The Murano wasnt on my radar screen for a new SUV. I had planned on buying a Honda CR-V. But my wife test drove one and I loved. At her request, I also drove it and loved. It was in my driveway within 24 hours.

I attend the auto show every year and when I say the 2003 Murano for the first time I knew this was the vehicle for me. I wanted an SUV this time. I had a Toyota Camry XLE for ten years I brought new. I loved that car but, when I say the Murano I wanted it. It has style, pick up and looks. I have had my vehicle for over a year now and I am completely satisfied except for gas mileage is not quite what I would like it to be, but you cant have everything.

I drove several vehicles from a variety of dealerships but after I test drove the Murano, I was sold on its exceptional ride and available options. The Pathfinder, 4Runner, Trailblazer, and Explorer are no competition for the Murano. The Murano costs more than those vehiles but its well worth it. The body style is similar to the Lexus but without that price. I love driving my Murano and its so classy that I can go anywhere and get second looks...

  • PROBLEMS? - 2003 Nissan Murano

THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST VEHICLES I HAVE OWNED, BUT THERE ARE STILL SOME ANNOYING PROBLEMS. I HAVE RACED CARS, RESTORED CARS & SHOWED CARS, SO I FEEL NISSAN NEEDS TO GET A LITTLE FEEDBACK FROM OWNERS, NOT JUST COMPLEMENTS.

  • Great SUV - 2010 Nissan Murano

This is my second Murano & our 39th new vehicle. liked the newer body style so bought. Its a fun to drive nice looking sporty crossover & very quite. Not as luxurious a ride as the wifes Lexus RX350H but just as quite. I like to feel the road not float over it so the Murano is great in that respect. Great handling & gas mileage true to its rating. Had no troubles with my first Murano after 2 years & 18K miles so expect none with this one though Ill probably will be looking for new in a couple years as have throughout my spoiler life.

  • Fun to Drive but some bad luck - 2003 Nissan Murano
    By -

I have had my Murano since September, and it is very fun to drive. It is plenty powerful and it seems to me that it has a nice ride. I have had some issues with the windows creaking and clicking over rough roads and when I turn corners. The dealer has worked on this problem 3 times to no avail. I hope this gets fixed or I will have to ask for another one. This started only two weeks after I bought it. The other issue is not the dealers fault. The hood had bad paint. It was a lighter shade of silver on the front right of the hood. They are repainting it as I write this review. Very good otherwise.

  • A 10 all around - 2004 Nissan Murano

If you like the height of a SUV but the comfort of a car then the Murano is right for you! It is on a car chasis and drives like a car. The Murano is very open and spacious. It has more leg room in the 2nd row than most cars do! Plus theres tons of cargo room. Everything from the Leather to the Bose stereo to the dual climate control is of the highest quality. Plus it is so fun to drive! You have a huge engine but you still get excellent gas mileage. Plus this is the first time I havent been afraid to drive in the rain. The Murano has VDC and traction control to keep you going in all weather conditions.

In 28 years of driving, I cant remember a more pleasureable driving vehicle!! The comfort and smoothness is just great, The CVT is the transmission of the future! If you are looking at this segment of cars, dont overlook the Murano, With all the features I think it represents a great value. This is my 4th Nissan and I have been very happy with them all.

  • Loving the Murano - 2003 Nissan Murano

I have had no problems with the vehicle thus far. I was pleasantly surprised to see that my highway gas mileage was better than expected (sometimes over 26 mpg), but my city mileage in stop and go traffic runs about 14 mpg. That is really my only complaint, other than the cargo net which is virtually impossible to figure out. It is great in the snow without even putting snow tires on, and stops on a dime on ice. The heated leather seats are much worth the money, as is the generously sized sunroof. The Xenon headlights are phenomenal.
