Model Overview:

The Nissan Murano was one of the first midsize crossovers introduced in the United States and quickly became a popular alternative to more traditional SUVs thanks to its taut, carlike driving character and avant-garde styling. Later Nissan Muranos are notable for their higher-quality interiors, updated technology features and higher fuel economy ratings.

New or used, the Murano is definitely worth a look if you're on the hunt for a midsize crossover with seating for five. In reviews, our editors have generally praised this Nissan's sophisticated appearance, stylish and comfortable interior and strong acceleration. Middling cargo capacity and poor rearward visibility are our main complaints about the Nissan Murano. You'll find competing models that are better on one or both of these counts, but most won't match the Murano's combination of performance and style.

  • Murano is a Great Vehicle - 2006 Nissan Murano

The Nissan Murano is a solid, sylish SUV that has a lot of interior room for a mid-size SUV. All the standard features, the ride, body style and power are what sold me. The engine gives you all the power you need and you dont feel the transmission shifting as you are gaining speed. If you are looking for a great automobile that has style, power and is luxurious, this may be the SUV for you. The other factor that sold me was the dealer. Arron Carter of Bankston Nissan, Irving, Texas, had a low key approach and was very interested in helping us find a vehicle that met our needs. From the top down, I think this is one of the better dealerships in the Dallas/Fort Worth area.

  • Good car BUT Wind Noise!! - 2010 Nissan Murano
    By -

Excitement of the new car purchase did not last long. Our AWD SL 360 package came with in built wind noise. The dealership insisted that the wind noise is not an issue and they branded it as normal operation. But for 35K car I expect it not be noisy on a long drive. We do a lot of long drives and listening to music on a windy day is frustrating. Driving this car is fun if you dont cross 60 mi/hr. Love the Bose Music system.

  • Do Not Buy Nissan - 2004 Nissan Murano

At 59,151 my transmission went out. The Murano has a very expensive CVT transmission and I was told the repair would cost over $6,000. The transmission should have been covered under the powertrain warranty (60 months, 60k miles) -but I was apparently 1 month past the 60 month mark. Nissan jerked me around for 2 weeks pretending they might honor the warranty (while I racked up rental car bills) but in the end they made it quite clear they did not care about me or the vehicle they built. After reading about other problems with the CVT, I think a recall is in order, but Nissan doesnt care.

  • Murano owner since 2003 - 2009 Nissan Murano

I am a great advocate of the Nissan Murano. Been driving one since 2003 and have no performance or reliability issues with the car. However I was disappointed when I purchased my 2009 SL and I could not get an iPod integration kit installed or a remote start kit installed from Nissan. I would assume these are common accessories today, especially the iPod. Just disappointed in Nissans decision to exclude their mid range Murano owners.

We replaced our Ford Expedition with the Murano. We love the trade off, size for style and comfort. We also enjoy the increase in gas milage.

  • Uninterested dealer kills the sale - 2016 Nissan Murano
    By -

Local Nisson Poughkeepsie dealers attitude was disinterest: wife wanted to test drive at a local, large, free from traffic malls back lot but salesman insisted he could not go there. So she really couldnt evaluate if the car was for her. Local Mazda dealer had no such problem so that is what we bought.

I have had all types of suvs from jeep wrangler to toyota seq. This is by far the best suv i have bought. In fact i bought two of them.

  • Stellar - 2003 Nissan Murano

This SUV deserves a perfect rating with the exception that the style is either loved or hated by onlookers. But once you have a chance to drive one of these, all doubts about its looks are out the window. Its performance, comfort handling and power are so exceptional that this car deserves to stand out aesthetically. It pioneered the era of the crossover SUV. It handles better than my VW Passat and my Mazda Miata.

  • 2009 Murano - 2009 Nissan Murano

Ive had my Murano for just about 1.5 months and have been very happy with the handling and performance. Easy to drive, park, turn sharply. Good pick up. Easy to put down back seats for hauling. Comfortable ride. Plenty of leg and head room in front and back seat. My first SUV, so a little difficult to judge distance in front and back. Slight limits on visibility. I like the 6 CD changer and easy plug in for iPod. Overall - very pleased with vehicle.
