Overview & Reviews
The Nissan Murano was one of the first midsize crossovers introduced in the United States and quickly became a popular alternative to more traditional SUVs thanks to its taut, carlike driving character and avant-garde styling. Later Nissan Muranos are notable for their higher-quality interiors, updated technology features and higher fuel economy ratings.
New or used, the Murano is definitely worth a look if you're on the hunt for a midsize crossover with seating for five. In reviews, our editors have generally praised this Nissan's sophisticated appearance, stylish and comfortable interior and strong acceleration. Middling cargo capacity and poor rearward visibility are our main complaints about the Nissan Murano. You'll find competing models that are better on one or both of these counts, but most won't match the Murano's combination of performance and style.

From a Max to a Murano - 2006 Nissan Murano
By Jim7689 - November 24 - 8:30 amI just turned in my 04 Maxima SL for a Murano SL with all the goodies. Seats are great, drive is smooth and does not roll like some other SUVs. Turns much sharper that my Max did, real nice for pulling into my garage. I actuaaly get better gas mileage than I got on my Maxima. I travel for business and Im sure this will meet all of my needs.

great car - 2004 Nissan Murano
By wwlloyd - November 21 - 10:00 amCar is excellent. Handles well, transmission is smooth and easy. We have taken the car on several trips and really enjoyed the comfort and economical gas mileage. We live in a canyon which receives substantial snow in the winter. With the addition of snow tires, the Murano goes up the canyon without effort, even when there is a foot of new snow on the road.

Not bad for the first model year! - 2004 Nissan Murano
By Balboa - November 21 - 10:00 amI am 64, 225 lbs. I find the Murano to be very forgiving for a person my size. Not only the legs, but the head room, even with the sunroof! There, you loose two inch of head room. Now I do not have to slide down in my seat in order to keep my head off the roof. I have had people come up to me and want to know what kind of vehicle that was, and there like....Oh, that is what the Murano looks like. They are impressed with the looks. Not too big and not too small, it has that look, like it means business.

Love My SUV - 2005 Nissan Murano
By Bill - November 18 - 9:43 amBefore I purchased my Murano, I was at the Lexus dealership about to purchase a Lexus GS 330 (my dream car). I decided on the Murano because the Lexus had no utility value. The Lexus RX 330 was a nice alternative however its styling was a bit girlish for me. The Murano provided me everthing I wanted (and more) in a car with the added utility value of a small truck. The Murano rides, handles and is more comfortable the many cars that I have owned in the past. The Bose sound system is execellent. The cabin is spacious and gobbles up whatever you put into it. I would not trade my Murano for anything else.

Still running strong - 2009 Nissan Murano
By ryogy - November 15 - 4:38 pmMy wife got the SL in 09 and its now passed 80.000 miles. Ive read all the bad reviews here and all I can say is: were either lucky with our Murano or those other cars havent seen a lot of maintenance. Of course, its gone through 2 batteries but that is due to the fact that my better half never turns off any of the electrical consumers and her regular commute is generally short. ...And like other MO users, weve experienced that strange phenomenon when you have to call the Ghostbusters to scare the electrical gremlins that keep you from starting the car. Other than that, it has been a trusty companion. Powertrain runs strongs, the plastic interior holds good, all it needs is oils&fil

Piece of Crap! - 2006 Nissan Murano
By raymarie11 - November 11 - 3:33 pmIve had this car for almost 2 years now and within first month I was stuck at work with a car that wouldnt start. Ended up being battery which wasnt covered obviously. then I had to go back like 3 months later for another problem, car wouldnt move, they claimed that from a good previous rain storm that something got flooded out internally and whatever repair it was, was covered. Then I went back again for some grinding noise, ended up being wheel barrings which were covered again. Then I went BACK again for some rattling noise it was making. Ended up paying 1100 freaking dollars for all these repairs only to have to come back 2 weeks later for a squeeky noise. and then it cut off. Beware

Murano is the real deal - 2003 Nissan Murano
By Risk Taker - November 11 - 10:00 amNissan has hit a homerun with the Murano on the first pitch! This car is great on long trips. Gets terrific gas milage for a vehicle this size and turns heads everywhere I go. It has evey imaginable creature comfort but is not for whimps. Step on the gas and it really goes. If this car is as reliable over the long haul as it has been thus far, my instincts about buying this car in the first production year will have been proved right. Why cant American car makers design and build cars like this instead of all of the "so what" cars that come off of their assembly lines today.

Very Pleased! - 2003 Nissan Murano
By John Oberhofer - November 11 - 10:00 amThis is my second Nissan product, the first being a 1991 4D Pathfinder. I kept the Pathfinder until 1998 without doing so much as changing the brakes, tires & battery once...and of course the scheduled oil changes. This vehicle reminds me of why I like Nissan....everything about this vehicle is 1st class....from the design...to the ride...it is worth every penny.

TWO THUMBS UP ! - 2003 Nissan Murano
By CTR - November 11 - 10:00 amThree words: JOB WELL DONE. This is an amazing SUV and fits me and my wifes lifestyles to a "T". Test drove new Maxima and liked it but the Murano had more to offer especially with the AWD system. There is no better car in its class as far as perfomance, appearance, quality (i.e. ride and Craftsmanship), saftey and comfort is concerned. Trailblazer and Escape cannot hold a candle next to it. First mid-size SUV design Ive seen that does not sacrifice back seat room for larger cargo space and vice versa. Nissan utilized the space well. Ive noticed that people always take a second look. Cant wait until its broken in to really test it.

MY MURONO TURNS HEADS - 2003 Nissan Murano
By TERRY SAUL - November 7 - 10:00 amTHIS IS A VERY COMFORTABLE, SOLID RIDING SPORTS CAR THAT LOOKS LIKE AN SUV! THE NEW TRANSMISSION (CVT) IS THE BIG KEY TO THE PERFORMANCE OF THIS RIDE. IT IS DIFFICULT TO ADJUST TO INSTANT POWER, NO WAITING FOR PASSING GEAR TO COME IN, IT IS READY BEFORE YOU ARE. EVERYWHERE WE GO, PEOPLE WANT TO KNOW WHAT IT IS. IT SETS IN FRONT OF MY BUSINESS AND WE HAVE HAD SEVERAL CUSTOMERS STOP AND WANT TO KNOW ALL ABOUT IT.
