Model Overview:

The Nissan Murano was one of the first midsize crossovers introduced in the United States and quickly became a popular alternative to more traditional SUVs thanks to its taut, carlike driving character and avant-garde styling. Later Nissan Muranos are notable for their higher-quality interiors, updated technology features and higher fuel economy ratings.

New or used, the Murano is definitely worth a look if you're on the hunt for a midsize crossover with seating for five. In reviews, our editors have generally praised this Nissan's sophisticated appearance, stylish and comfortable interior and strong acceleration. Middling cargo capacity and poor rearward visibility are our main complaints about the Nissan Murano. You'll find competing models that are better on one or both of these counts, but most won't match the Murano's combination of performance and style.

  • a REAL review - 2004 Nissan Murano

Wow, I just read a review of the Murano and for the most part it is accurate...accept when it comes to power in traffic. Oh my GOSH, they are WAY off base. Who on Earth test-drove the vehicle? My Murano blasts through traffic,up hills, into fastlanes, and more with LOADS of power! Did I just get a unique Murano? I think the guy that testdrove it was sleeping. And then when you shift it to the right, zooooommm! It blasts all the cars off the road...yup, I raced and WON! FYI, against a BMW, FX, and a few other cheap cars. HA!!! There should be a re-test of the SUV. Or give that guy that drove it originally some No-Doz!

  • Murano Is Ultimate SUV - 2004 Nissan Murano
    By -

I have been driving in my new Murano for four months and I can honestly say Im in love! I have an SL that is completely loaded and it can rival any luxury SUV that is priced $10,000 more (Lexus RX330, Infiniti FX35, etc). The styling is unique and sexy; and boy does it turn heads. The interior is extremely spacious and comfortable and the Bose sterio system kicks butt! I often forget Im driving an SUV because the handling is so smooth and fast. The CVT engine is a nice feature and adds to the SUVs performance.

  • Really fun car just poor mpg - 2004 Nissan Murano

This is a very good car better than any other suv for the money, good feature of having AWD only when you need it then jumps to 2WD to increase mpg.

  • Mostly Awesome - 2006 Nissan Murano
    By -

I have the 2006 SL AWD. I test drove a lot of smaller 5 doors including the Nissan Rogue which would suit my active lifestyle. Its unfortunate that no manufacturer has figured out how to make a comfortable car for tall people. The Murano has comfortable leg room; but the seats fall just a little short in leg support. I get about 19 mpg average and up to 22 mpg. I bought it at Mossy Nissan in El Cajon- the sales team is extremely slippery- be careful. Although I still got a somewhat fair price- they lacked integrity.

  • Super Fun to Drive! - 2003 Nissan Murano
    By -

I have only had my Murano for 10 days, but I absolutely love it! All I can say is that this is ONE GREAT RIDE! I researched SUVs for several months prior to making my purchase and one of the biggest attractions for me was the CVT...it has to be the smoothest transmission Ive ever driven. Nissan has a winner in the Murano!

  • Poor Build Quality Means Failing Parts - 2005 Nissan Murano
    By -

Good mechanicals and style have been offset by lots of design and quality problems. Defective power passenger window, power outlet in front, broken drivers seat motor (big $1,000 problem, Nissan wants to replace full seat for plastic gear in motor, universal failure), grille chrome plating bubbling off, lots of squeaks and rattles. Im only putting 2,800 miles a year on a $40,000+ car, and is already showing lots of problems. What will happen at 15,000 or 20,000 miles?

  • Head Turning vehicle - 2003 Nissan Murano
    By -

I only test drove this veh, but am thinking about buying it. I like the look, its a head turner. Dont roll down the back windows while driving, or the sun roof. The wind turbulance is bad. You need the wind deflector for the sun roof. Great power, and the transmission is neat. Wife loves the ajustments for the seats, and pedals. Seems like a winner, but I havent bought it yet.

  • Worth waiting for... - 2009 Nissan Murano
    By -

My wife and I researched for several months on our next new car looking at the Toyota Highlander, the Mazda CX-7, Ford Edge, Honda Pilot, the list goes on... Each of the the aforementioned models has options and accessories we liked but none had everything in one vehicle - not until we came across the 2009 Murano. The comfort, quality, fit & finish, ride, accessories and options combined to make this car standout from the rest. We are extremely happy with our purchase and thoroughly enjoy driving this car. We know that this may not be the car for everyone, were just thankful that we waited for this and we couldnt be happier. 2009 Murano, Silver, LE AWD, Nav, Leather, Dual Moonroof, et

Nice around town or on road. Handles well. Im 62" and have plenty of leg room. Cargo area is good and the handles to lower rear seat in back work great. Just got with 250 mi and have over 1100 miles. Ac work well in front *but YOU DON"T GET MUCH AIR through the 2 rear vents. Some of the family complained about this. *will update later.

  • Best SUV ever owned for Value - 2005 Nissan Murano
    By -

I have owned Acura, Lexus, Ford, and Infiniti cars and SUVs for the last 15 years and the Murano SL AWD has been the best price value of all of them. The Ford Escape was pitiful in terms of comfort and performance. The Murano was at the other end of the scale -- best value, comfort, performance and value. I wish I had purchased instead of leased it because it is still in perfort condition after 3 years. Had two bumper replacements which were very affordable (only $600 each) compared to fixing other cars. Am considering buying this SUV again.
