Model Overview:

The Nissan Murano was one of the first midsize crossovers introduced in the United States and quickly became a popular alternative to more traditional SUVs thanks to its taut, carlike driving character and avant-garde styling. Later Nissan Muranos are notable for their higher-quality interiors, updated technology features and higher fuel economy ratings.

New or used, the Murano is definitely worth a look if you're on the hunt for a midsize crossover with seating for five. In reviews, our editors have generally praised this Nissan's sophisticated appearance, stylish and comfortable interior and strong acceleration. Middling cargo capacity and poor rearward visibility are our main complaints about the Nissan Murano. You'll find competing models that are better on one or both of these counts, but most won't match the Murano's combination of performance and style.

  • Who would have thought - 2004 Nissan Murano

Me and my wife, both like the Murano and thought it was the "Smart" decision based on what was out there. But it turned out to me more than just a "Smart" decision. After we bought the car, I thought I would hate driving it day in day out, but on the Contrary, "Who would have thought" !!

Extremely comfortable, good performance, unique looks, lots of creature comforts, decent gas mileage (20 MPG average)... what more could you want?

  • Buyer beware of Nissan warranty - 2004 Nissan Murano

We purchased a new 2004 Nissan Murano "All Wheel Drive" and in four (4) months, noticed a small 1/4-inch rust spot on the roof. We took the vehicle to the dealer where it was purchased only to wait over a month for them to schedule an appointment with the Nissan representative. The Nissan representative failed to show up for the appointment and stated the paint on their vehicles could not possibly contain a flaw causing rust. Nissan denied the warranty without the courtesy of looking at the rust. The Nissan warranty customer service was impersonal and denied to even inspect the rust spot. Beware of Nissans false warranty.

I love the way it handles but I have been dissapointed in the gas milage, the back seat belts get in the way when you lower the seat. I also had the alternator go out at 18000. Seems to be a common problem. I hope the resale is good.

  • Change for the better - 2009 Nissan Murano

Just purchased the Murano last month, and I cant stop using it. It was for my wife as a replacement of the crv that we had, but, looks like I am the one spending more time behind the wheel. The interior is so well crafted and looks very luxurious. Very quiet inside compared to the crv, and oh boy! What a great sound system! If you are getting the Murano, upgrade it to the Bose system and your ears would surely love it.

  • Murano - very high marks - 2004 Nissan Murano

Just bought it, really like everything about it. Better alternative than a big SUV or a 4runner or Pathfinder. Especially for very tall people...this Murano fits very well and is very comfortable. Cannot find anything wrong with it at all - except when you take your foot off the pedal on level ground it gives a braking effect that you can definitely feel (this is with the AWD off and the traction on). Would recommend this Murano highly.

  • Outstanding vehicle! - 2007 Nissan Murano

Ive owned my Murano for about nine months and have minimal complaints! It is the S AWD version and dont have all the bells, but performance is unbeatable in its class. I see a lot of people say they dont get gas mileage, but I get a solid 28 to 29 mpg on the hwy doing 60 to 65 mph. It will decline significantly from 65 to 80 as with any vehicle. Average 18 to 20 mpg in town. Rides very solid but not uncomfortable. Never had a maintenance issue with it. Would recommend it to anyone! By the way, Im pretty sure all models back seats recline by pulling the tabs where the seat meets the back. I know mine does and I have a pretty basic model.

  • Fun car 2 - 2007 Nissan Murano

This is my second review. I traded in my 2003 Murano for the 2006 Murano. Love it even better. There are more safety features than you can imagine. The engine is a break-away engine, 8-10 airbags, windows and sunroof will not shut if something like fingers, head, etc. is in the way, backup camera and doors will not lock if the keys are in the car. New smart key is nice for when you have your hands full (the car will recognize you-no keys needed to open doors or start car). This car is alot for your money!

  • Impressive - 2003 Nissan Murano

I test drove virtually every possible performance wagon, crossover, and suv on the market today. All of them had something going for them but the best compromise for the money was the Murano ( bar none). I knew when I test drove it that I had finally found a perfect blend of performance, comfort, practicality, mileage, safety, and affordability. Very nice ride, super comfy seats, nice styling, smooth powerful engine. Mileage has been ~20mpg during the break-in period in very cold weather.
