Overview & Reviews
The Nissan Murano was one of the first midsize crossovers introduced in the United States and quickly became a popular alternative to more traditional SUVs thanks to its taut, carlike driving character and avant-garde styling. Later Nissan Muranos are notable for their higher-quality interiors, updated technology features and higher fuel economy ratings.
New or used, the Murano is definitely worth a look if you're on the hunt for a midsize crossover with seating for five. In reviews, our editors have generally praised this Nissan's sophisticated appearance, stylish and comfortable interior and strong acceleration. Middling cargo capacity and poor rearward visibility are our main complaints about the Nissan Murano. You'll find competing models that are better on one or both of these counts, but most won't match the Murano's combination of performance and style.

Best Suv/Car Value - 2004 Nissan Murano
By JIM2006 - May 15 - 10:00 amPound per pound , this is the best SUV value. Nothing comes close. I test drove Highlander , Pilot 4Runner, and Touareg. They are all bland , heavy and unexciting. Got the spirited SE over the SL for the 6 speed CVT for better control and acceleration. Always a smile whenever I drive this vehicle. Betters my 5 Series BMW in driving. Nissan underpriced this vehicle. I am getting a second one for my wife.

Happy Murano Owner - 2009 Nissan Murano
By Becky - May 15 - 5:56 amLove my new Murano! I got the S AWD with the convenience pkg. in glacier pearl. It is everything I had hoped for. Nice to drive and looks good on the road. Looked at the Toyota Rav4 and Chevy Equinox, the Murano out shines the others by far!

Excellent truck - 2005 Nissan Murano
By Arlene - May 12 - 4:03 amWhen looking to purchase a vehicle, I looked at the Mercedes-Benz M-Class and the Lexus RX 330. I ended up with a 2005 Nissan Murano SL. As far as I am concerned it is a luxurious vehicle, fun, and very sharp looking. My husband owns a Mercedes and he loves driving my Murano. I think some vehicles are overrated because of their brand image, but Im happy with my choice. The ride is great. It drives as smoothly as my husbands vehicle, if not smoother. I am one happy customer.

A Hot Wheels Car for Adults - 2003 Nissan Murano
By drg - May 12 - 2:00 amHave spent the last month looking at a wide range of vehicles; I test drove the Highlander, RX300, BMW X5, Acura MDX, Honda Pilot and Volvo XC90. This car was really amzingly well put together and the size was really what I was looking for as opposed to the larger vehicles that I had driven. The handling is better than the Lexus and close to the Bimmer in my mind. Havent been in snow but anticipate a good safe ride. Interior is well appointed and seats are very comfortable. DVD navigation system is a hoot and prob more helpful than I initially anticipated. Rear seats are fine. 3 adults would be a bit tight.

Some days - 2006 Nissan Murano
By KG - May 12 - 12:20 amMost of the time I love my Murano. However, when I have problems it seems to take multiple visits to the dealer to cure them. It took a year to solve a creak in the sun visors. Ive made at least 4 visits for a creaking drivers door. Any road imperfections make it creak and it is embarassing when you have others in the vehicle. The door panel has to be replaced. Cruise control will occasionally not respond when I tap the brake pedal have to slam on the brakes or turn off cruise control. The dealer just replaced the master cylinder hoping that will cure the problem So doI! Nissan should spend more money on the interior. It feels like all the money was spent on exterior design.

MUCH Better than 05MY and competition! - 2009 Nissan Murano
By mimurano - May 5 - 5:03 pmWe traded in our 05MY Murano for an 09 SL loaded with navi and glass panel roof. What an upgrade! This truck should be sold as a luxury model. We shopped around for an Edge or Enclave and wanted to wait to see the 09 Murano. The interior is what sold us on this one and put the competition to shame. Well worth the wait! The interior is very soft and pleasant. Seats are much improved and more comfortable. The built in hard drive music server works great.

Hidden Transmission warranty - 2006 Nissan Murano
By My2006 - May 3 - 2:26 pmOK, need some Karma so thought Id take the time to post. My wifes 2006 Murano with ~115K on it had the transmission die. IIRC, Nissan has a free Extended Warranty added to all 2003 (?) - 2009 or 2010 Muranos transmissions. My $4000 Dealer price replacement ended up being free. Did have a minor problem as my wifes Murano was a Japanese Manf. vehicle, and the VIN had aged out of their system. Took a day or so for the Dealer (Napa Ca ended up being the most helpfuly and did the work) to get it pulled back from HQ database. This isnt exactly advertised as far as I know, or at least not widely. This covers only the transmission, and is valid for Muranos with 10 years/120K or less. Here is the notice actually: http://www.nissanassist.com/ProgramDetails.php?menu=2 Was initially POd as wife had given me her car as weve moved from NorCal to WNY and the AWD was a prime feature. Very nice that Nissan recognized the problem with early CVT introduction to their line, and didnt screw over their customers.
