Model Overview:

The Nissan Murano was one of the first midsize crossovers introduced in the United States and quickly became a popular alternative to more traditional SUVs thanks to its taut, carlike driving character and avant-garde styling. Later Nissan Muranos are notable for their higher-quality interiors, updated technology features and higher fuel economy ratings.

New or used, the Murano is definitely worth a look if you're on the hunt for a midsize crossover with seating for five. In reviews, our editors have generally praised this Nissan's sophisticated appearance, stylish and comfortable interior and strong acceleration. Middling cargo capacity and poor rearward visibility are our main complaints about the Nissan Murano. You'll find competing models that are better on one or both of these counts, but most won't match the Murano's combination of performance and style.

  • A Turkey in the Driveway. - 2009 Nissan Murano

I traded my totally reliable 2008 Honda CR-V in for my Murano. And at less than two weeks old and with 760 miles on the odometer, I was greeted Thanksgiving day with a car that was totally dead. Nothing worked. The dealer told me that I was not the first owner to have this happen. A power module had to be replaced. I lucked out. My car was in the driveway. The car ran perfect up to that point. I drive 80 miles one way to work and hope that the problem doesnt repeat itself while I am away from home. Lets see how well Nissan repairs its cars.

1st time Nissan buyer, test-drove Honda Pilot and Toyota Highlander but liked the Murano best (I like the smaller size, I dont need 3rd row). Love this car so far, fit and finish / styling are top notch. Took it to the mountains to go skiing this past weekend and it did great, but not much snow or ice to challenge AWD on yet. Leather is comfortable, moonroof is fun. Am averaging about 19-20 mpg so far in mostly city driving but only 500+ miles on it so far. Very quiet, smoother ride than I expected from SUV. I was a bit worried about buying a Nissan due to their hit or miss reliability but am hoping it is above average like 07 design. I also hope crash test ratings come thru clean.

This is 2nd vehicle by Nissan we owned. Loved how it drives and its sharp looks. Little disappointed about 21 MPG during a recent trip (mostly hwy driving). It has about 3500 miles now. Otherwise it is a great vehicle to drive, handles very well.

In March, I traded my 05 Altima & 05 Pathfinder on my Murano. In June, we drove from Louisiana to Utah on vacation.Total trip was 4,500 miles. Averaged 24.5 mpg.Handled the mountain roads like a sports car. The overdrive switch worked well coming down the mountains. The CVT was smooth, even in the mountains. Passed through a terrible storm in Texas. Handled the wind and water puddles well. Have made similar trips out west in a Tahoe, Yukon, Cherokee and my Pathfinder. Gave up a little storage space , but this car out performed them all. Drove 12 to 14 hours some days. Very comfortable. Love this car.

We bought this car brand new in 2005, I loved it. The drive was amazing and smooth, I just loved every feature of the car. We have had no issues with the car and it has been very well maintained. I took it in to have the brakes replaced, which didnt need to be done until 65,000 miles. After I picked up the car I noticed it was making this fluttering sound so I took it to the dealer and the dream car became a nightmare. They told me it had internal failure to the transmission and they recommend replacement. $4500.00!! There were metal shavings in my fluid and besides the noise I wouldnt have noticed because it still drove fine. Please be cautious with this tranny it is costly to replace!

  • Excellent - 2005 Nissan Murano

The Muranos stylish exterior makes it the all around SUV. Beautiful on the town. Rugged & sporty for soccer & adventures. The interior is remarkably spacious. We had two mini vans prior to our Murano. I thought the loss of space and comfort, that our Grand Caravan provided, would be the price wed pay to finally get out of the van and into sophisticated style. Surprisingly, our family of 5 found comfort, with more than adaquate (personal) space. (No "Ew,hes touching me!" fights) The kids even prefer our Murano over our 2005 Dodge Magnum!! >**Not a single problem with my Murano in our 9 months together! Great performance. Fine handling. An absolute BLAST to drive!!!

  • Most fun Ive had driving - 2004 Nissan Murano

We looked at 4 different vehicles, the Honda Pilot, Buick Rendezvous, Toyota Highlander, and Chrysler Pacifica before falling in love with the Nissan Murano. It had everything we wanted, including a ton of options for a great price. What I love most is how many people stare. Often, there are people checking out the Murano when Im leaving the store and asking me what it is.

Got 2004 Murano SL AWL loaded on Memorial Day. Love it. My choice came down to Murano and Acura TL. TL interior seemed slightly more refined and is quick. No regrets. Murano drives like it is on rails esp in rain. Good power. CVT--very smooth, no lag to me. Mileage seems decent. I never expected to get an SUV, but why get a car as small as the RX8 or even Inf G35, when Murano has better gas mileage. Ride is great to me--firm and satisfying. No need to go to SE. Interior noise seems low. I have had no trouble with visibility or power steering.
