Overview & Reviews
The Nissan Murano was one of the first midsize crossovers introduced in the United States and quickly became a popular alternative to more traditional SUVs thanks to its taut, carlike driving character and avant-garde styling. Later Nissan Muranos are notable for their higher-quality interiors, updated technology features and higher fuel economy ratings.
New or used, the Murano is definitely worth a look if you're on the hunt for a midsize crossover with seating for five. In reviews, our editors have generally praised this Nissan's sophisticated appearance, stylish and comfortable interior and strong acceleration. Middling cargo capacity and poor rearward visibility are our main complaints about the Nissan Murano. You'll find competing models that are better on one or both of these counts, but most won't match the Murano's combination of performance and style.

Grows on you very quickly - 2009 Nissan Murano
By pwk2000 - August 27 - 5:33 pmAfter 2 months this Murano keeps getting better. I suggest an extended test drive (over the weekend if possible) as this car just grows on you. Interior is a 10. I have black leather, it is very sharp looking and very comfortable for a big guy. Plenty of space. The ride and handling are extremely smooth! Very little bodyroll (as compared to other midsize SUVs). The transmission is perfect, easy power when you need to pass. Brakes are also very good. Driving on snow was a breeze. Exterior styling is ok nothing great, you will get plenty of looks and questions. I recommend this SUV to everyone.

Looks good but major build quality issus - 2004 Nissan Murano
By J - August 27 - 4:16 pmTest drove the Highlander and Pilot and Murano, and we fell in love with the Murano. It was the best deal for all the features we wanted. It handled well and we loved the look - a prototype for other crossover SUVs to follow/copy. Unfortunately, car has had some major issues. Front control arms/transverse links went bad- $1000, the driver visor has been replaced and went bad again (design defect)- $350, front motor mount - $500, AC stinks- blows smelly socks air due to poor condensation drainage design, oil cooler seal, premium fuel.

Looks good, but dont buy one - 2003 Nissan Murano
By Ren - August 26 - 11:40 amI guess I got a lemon...Many problems, battery died 2x(covered), back windows rolled down by themselves (2x,luckily nothing stolen), gas door wouldnt open (in costco line), now door locks are "worn"-all three gave out when I took it in for a "free" oil change- coincidence? Nissan will not cover this, because warranty is over. I highly discourage others from purchasing a Nissan.

A Truly Great Car - 2004 Nissan Murano
By TigerGuy - August 26 - 2:00 amWhat a pleasure to drive. I looked hard at the Murano for almost a year before I purchased it. The honda Pilot and toyota Highlander were close competition but I just couldnt say no to the better styling, handling, and performance of the Murano.

Nissan & Transmissions - 2003 Nissan Murano
By Very Disappointed - August 21 - 10:30 amI purchased my Murano after reading numerous Edmunds reviews. In January of 06 everything I read was positive, yet now I sit with a $5000 estimate to rebuild my transmission on an 03 vehicle that has just tripped 87,000 miles. This is my 2nd Nissan & my 2nd issue with replacing a transmission (the 1st a 92 Maxima with over 150,000 miles). I too have had the issue of putting my foot on the gas and getting no power after a stop in traffic. Its scary, dangerous & frustrating to think I know have to replace a transmission so soon.

Gas mileage a farce - 2004 Nissan Murano
By madecyn - August 19 - 2:00 amGas mileage has been only 18 mpg even though it was advertised as 20/24. Driver seat moves back/forth when accelerating and decelerating. Alignment continues to be off; when fixed from pulling right, it starts pulling left, and the saga continues. Maintenance oil change mileage settings can not be turned back unless you have the dealer reset the computer. Has anyone gotten 20/24 mpg?

Excellent Vehicle - 2007 Nissan Murano
By Rob - August 18 - 2:50 pmI would buy another one. I love the turning radius. It is comfortable. It is very roomy. The only thing I do not like is the cup holders. There are not enough and you cannot put two medium drinks side by side in the holders. Rob
