Model Overview:

The Nissan Murano was one of the first midsize crossovers introduced in the United States and quickly became a popular alternative to more traditional SUVs thanks to its taut, carlike driving character and avant-garde styling. Later Nissan Muranos are notable for their higher-quality interiors, updated technology features and higher fuel economy ratings.

New or used, the Murano is definitely worth a look if you're on the hunt for a midsize crossover with seating for five. In reviews, our editors have generally praised this Nissan's sophisticated appearance, stylish and comfortable interior and strong acceleration. Middling cargo capacity and poor rearward visibility are our main complaints about the Nissan Murano. You'll find competing models that are better on one or both of these counts, but most won't match the Murano's combination of performance and style.

  • Best SUV Ive ever owned - 2003 Nissan Murano

I read reviews and eagerly awaited its arrival. Needless to say, I fell in love with it when I first saw/drove it so I bought one of the first ones in town. Other than shopping around for the best price, I have had no other regrets. Its the most car-like mid-size SUV IMO.

the ride aint that smooth for the SL AWD but the road grip compensates for it. Interior material is good and the 18in wheels are awesome. The road and engine noise is noticeable.

  • Tough damn looking car! - 2009 Nissan Murano

I loved the way it looked overall. I found the "A" pillars to obstruct the view out of the front window especially looking to the left or right when trying to see before pulling out into traffic. The ride was never entirely smooth except when on the interstate. The final straw for me was the CVT transmission and the noise it constantly created. It was maddening to try and find the "sweet spot" with the transmission to get it where I did not hear the growl. I never could so decided to trade it in for a 2010 Lexus RX 350 and man oh man, what an amazing difference. This Lexus is a totally different experience and it is all good.

  • Could be a Great Vehicle, if..... - 2004 Nissan Murano

My wife and I wanted to get out of the minivan era. This Murano clearly stood out as the top contender for us. It handles very well in all conditions. Has good pickup including climbing hills. The seating is comfortable with the leather seats and touring package. We average about 10k per year and mileage has been acceptable with about 20-21 mpg avg. This car is an eye catcher when its all polished up. Trouble is we cant get more than 30K out of a set of tires. Bose cd is great if it works. Sun visors are a real problem, replaced 4 of them so far. Engine mount cracked. Has been costly to maintain. CVT has performed well but high in maintenance.

  • Murano_best all wheel drive Ive owned - 2003 Nissan Murano

The week I picked my Murano we had a big snow storm. When I pressed the all wheel drive switch and backed out of my parking space I met a huge 18" wall of snow left by the snow plow. I plowed right through it with ease. The SUV is as good as any 4 wheel drive Ive ever owned. I have been driving 4 wheel drives since 1969. I have owned aleast 9, 4 wheel drives from CJ Jeeps To Toyota 4runners

I love everything about this SUV with the exception of the following. The type of leather they used on the seats is very dry...its not soft or suptle, it is however durable, and great for kids. I also dont care for the drink holders in the front, nor do I care for the styling of the grill....The Infinity FX -35 & 45 are much better.

Be very careful because the transmission will let you down in 2 to 3 years and Nissan will refuse to make it good it is a very unreliable car with the dealerships not willing to fix for under 4 to 5 thousand dollars

  • best car purchase ever!!! - 2003 Nissan Murano

This car is great! It is ultra quiet. The car has a very smooth ride. I was planning on buying a bmw x5. After I test drove this car. I went back to test drive it again. I decided to buy it. I have no regrets about it. The car has been great on gas mileage. The seats are very comfortable. This car has so many options available. My only problem is dealing with the dealer. I feel that the sales people were not throughly trained on every aspect of this vehicle. I would definitly recommend this vehicle 100 times over!

I found a large hump on the front passenger side floor, after calling my local dealer they informed me its part of body style. I have to say who in hell at Nisan thought that was a good idea.
