Model Overview:

The Nissan Murano was one of the first midsize crossovers introduced in the United States and quickly became a popular alternative to more traditional SUVs thanks to its taut, carlike driving character and avant-garde styling. Later Nissan Muranos are notable for their higher-quality interiors, updated technology features and higher fuel economy ratings.

New or used, the Murano is definitely worth a look if you're on the hunt for a midsize crossover with seating for five. In reviews, our editors have generally praised this Nissan's sophisticated appearance, stylish and comfortable interior and strong acceleration. Middling cargo capacity and poor rearward visibility are our main complaints about the Nissan Murano. You'll find competing models that are better on one or both of these counts, but most won't match the Murano's combination of performance and style.

If youre looking for car-like ride, plenty of storage space, a well thought out interior, sports car handling and turn-your-head looks, the Murano is for you. Weve had more people stop and stare when we drive by than with any other car weve owned. They even walk up and ask to look inside. Its an SUV that handles like a sports car, rides like a sedan and looks like a million. Nissan has really done their homework on this one.

So far its been pretty perfect. Our other vehicle is feeling lonesome as we tend to drive the Murano for most non-cargo trips. Vehicle takes a little time to get used too - especially when parking, but that may be because we are used to a larger, higher-standing SUV; once you figure out when/where how to maneuver everything is good. Safety features - included blind-spot detection, all-around camera views are great, but our favorite so far is the distance-sensing cruise control as it lets us pay more attention to the crazy vehicles than to the speedometer. Cargo area is pretty good for most standard things - shopping for groceries for example, and rear seats can be easily lowered (and stood up) when necessary. No that it really matters, but this car has the largest glove compartment we have ever seen and we sometimes have to really look to find an object we have placed in their.

We purchased our silver SL in January 03. The model had only been available since December 02. Weve never regretted a minute. Its got power, performance and comfort. Love the Bose sound system. Our hauling capacity is larger and has better access than our daughters 05 Lexus RX 330. My only complain is that the gas mileage is no where near what they originally claimed (22 city and 28 hwy). Our overall average has been 18 mpg.

A dream car for anyone who is looking for the functionality of an SUV with the styling and comfort of a road cruising sedan. With the Murano you cant go wrong. We went from the Subaru Outback, a car in which we loved, to the Murano, which we couldnt be happier with.

My job takes me on the road and the Murano is a second office for me, great place to bring my customers too.

  • Best vehicle Ive ever owned! - 2005 Nissan Murano

This is my first foreign vehicle and, so far, the best vehicle that Ive ever owned! The CVT is extremely pleasant to drive and the versatility of the interior space is outstanding. The styling of this vehicle reminds me of the cars that guys who could draw used to draw in their notebooks back in high school when wishing to design what cars of the future looked like.

  • Brakes and Gas Tanks - 2006 Nissan Murano

Its a Very Good car overall. Its powerful and handles well. Its Roomy inside and the leather feels nice. I had some problems the dealer cannot fix. Brakes squeak in the morning when backing out of the drive way, Complained 6 times and the dealer really try to fix it but cannot. Another problem is when fueling. The pump shuts itself off because the tank does not have "air return"?? The dealer know of this problem and has ordered a new tank. The dealer said its the fuel pump inside the gas tank. About the squicky breaks, dealer said its the type of material Nissan uses on the breaks, no solutions.

Nicely styled, good instrumentation, the GPS system is exceptional. ONE BAD ITEM:The SAT XM radio was suppose to be part of my car audio package, but was NOT included, Nissan has refused to resolve this matter-even though 5 dealers said the would be included. NO XM. Otherwise a nice car overall! Comfortable seats, good driving visibility, mileage averages about 20,0 much better than most SUVs. CVT transmission has an unusual feel, however seems to work quite well. Handle well in the snow!

The engineering in this new Murano is just amazing. The vehical dynamic contol system keeps this vehical very stable on snow slick roads. It is the most comfortable, safe, quite and reliable vehical I ever had. I was a fleet manager for Chevrolet for almost 20 years and Ive driven more cars and trucks then most people. This is truly the new trend for the automotive industry to follow. Crossover SUV
