Overview & Reviews
A 20th Anniversary edition includes the 227-horsepower version of the standard 3.0-liter V6 from the Infiniti I30, as well as goodies like bronze-lensed headlight covers, a body kit, ersatz carbon-fiber interior trim, drilled metal pedals and a number of features normally optional on the SE. This special model also gets an exclusive color: Majestic Blue. A new Meridian package is optional on all Maximas, bundling side-impact airbags and a low washer fluid indicator with heated front seats and side mirrors, as well as special trunk lid trim. Adding optional traction control to the SE or GLE results in a Z Edition Maxima, for some zany reason.
- Silky and powerful V6 engine, sports car moves, room for the whole family.
- Odd styling details, high price, rough ride quality with SE suspension.

This is a keeper - 2001 Nissan Maxima
By CaptainD - December 31 - 1:43 amPurchased my 2001 Nissan Maxima new and roughly four years later I am still enjoying the drive. it has a strong engine (227HP) and excellent and brakes. its transmission is the most irratating item. Its shifts are not as crisp or predictable under certanin driving conditions as I would expect in a sports-oriented sedan. It provides a high level of comfort and convenience. The only quality issue was the leather on the drivers seat side bolster wore through from sliding across it or snagging on cell phoneThis was a $200 repair, but now it is like new. The seat is only partially covered with leather, most of it is vinyl. The Bose sound system is supurb! I am experiencing an annoying groan / squeak from dash area that I cant locate. My overall evaluation is that this ia a great vehicle for the money.

Awesome - 2001 Nissan Maxima
By Gatorma - December 1 - 2:00 amThis is my 4th Maxima and definately my favorite. Bought it used (3 years old) and it looks better than some of the new ones. Previous owner took immaculate care of the vehicle. AE rides like an expensive Lexus or Mercedes. Bose sound system is awesome - definately enjoyed by me, but extremely enjoyed by my 16-year son and his music. Friends/co-workers cant stop talking about how lucky I am. Recommend owning any Maxima to anyone, never unsatisfied. Thank you, Nissan....

20th Anniv. Review - 2001 Nissan Maxima
By Robert - October 28 - 10:33 pmThe 2001 Nissan Maxima is a very reliable and fun car to drive. In the past six years I have never had to have my car towed. I recommend anyone looking for a new car to test drive the Nissan Maxima.

Fun but expensive - 2001 Nissan Maxima
By reynaldo77 - October 17 - 10:00 amThis car is awesome, great styling and amazing performace for a 4-door sedan. But repairs are far more expensive than they should be, and seem to happen more than they should after 100,000 miles. The engine does not have problems, its still running strong, but other random parts keep breaking frequently.

Max Fun - 2001 Nissan Maxima
By max01 - September 11 - 10:00 amGreat driving car, with responsive engine. Load of interior room and nice appointments, including Bose audio system. Handles and brakes well. Would prefer less "plastic feel" of the dash, and rear independent suspension.

Glad I bought this - 2001 Nissan Maxima
By GreyMax - May 20 - 10:00 amBought this car primarily for the engine, reliability reputation and the handsome interior. None has disappointed. The brakes were poorly manufactured however. Although the car stops well, (24,000 miles so far), the rotors already had to be turned. This was done N/C as there is a technical service bulletin for the warping of the rotors. Also, the ride may be a bit harsh for some but I did buy the SE model for its sports car like handling. I would buy this car again.

Fast and Dependable - 2001 Nissan Maxima
By Mike - November 14 - 11:43 pmBought vehicle used with 36K on it. Now have 126K on it and still drives great. Replaced brakes and tires. Aside from regular maintenance, thats all Ive ever had to do to it. Has never left me stranded. Still accelerates like a champ and hugs the road. No complaints at all here. Looking forward to turning over 200K.

Excellent Car!! - 2001 Nissan Maxima
By Rachel - August 8 - 11:36 pmMy husband and I purchased two brand new Nissan Maximas 2001 Limited Edition cars (made in Japan). After I bought mine, he loved it so much, he bought one. I still have mine and it is an awesome car! I have maintained all regular maintenance & service on it and the items that needed repair (catalytic converter and alternator) were covered under warranty. This is the second Maxima (& 4th Nissan) Ive owned and it is very fast, has great pick-up and is still stylish (after 7 years). My husband just traded his car in because he wanted a 4 cylinder and now misses his Maxima. The Bose system has incredible sound, all controls & power items still work, no problems with leather or paint! Buy one!!
