This Year's Model Updates:

The Maxima has been fully redesigned for 2004. It now rides on the same underpinnings as the well-received Nissan Altima. This year's Maxima is longer, wider and more powerful than the previous version.

Pros:
  • Roomy interior, lots of upscale options, sweet V6, available with a manual transmission.
Cons:
  • Some small, oddly arranged controls.

  • I love this Poor mans Loaded AUDI. - 2004 Nissan Maxima

I bought a winter mist White color with pearl finish) with Elite package. This is the best car I have driven. 3 times better than Volvo S80 and 4 times btter than Accord. T traded my 6 month old accord to get this baby and I am so happy. I test drove BMW 325i. It doesnt even come close in features and comfort.

Finally the maxima has returned to glory! Very fast and a blast to drive. Kudos to Nissans ubiquitous V6. Exterior styling will guarantee head turns and may cause "neck breaker" accidents as well. Interior follows the 350Z style and is a pleasure to look at. Minor issue with build. Clock set button was stuck. No problem though, corrected. This car is being marketed for performance seekers who like a taste of luxury. If you want pure luxury, go somewhere else.

Just bought one! Great car, fun to drive. There are a few things about the interior and the front grill I would change, but all in all it is very comfortable, drives like a sports car! Nissan makes a really reliable automobile.

  • Great Value - Amazing Power - 2004 Nissan Maxima

After 350 miles, I am confident I made the right choice. Styling, both inside and outside stand out from other cars. Lots of features for the money. Powerful engine (sometimes hard to control) a major plus. Center console is packed with buttons, sometimes confusing. Auto climate control sometimes makes bad choices. Avg 21 MPG

  • Very Fun to Drive - 2004 Nissan Maxima

First of all this is the most fun car to drive that I have ever owned. I have some minor complaints. I went from a 95 Max to this. I expected a better upgrade with some features. The int. is poorly laid out & semi-poor quality. In some ways the 95 Max had better quality features. The Bose has weak bass & the radio reception is awful. My wife has an 04 Accord which is far more comfortable but not as fun to drive. I guess I would love it if I could trade interiors with her Accord. Also the ride could be smoother on the SL model. It rides a little more stiff than it should feeling every bump. My 95 Max was just as smooth which this one should superior. With that said I still love the car.

  • Disappointed overall - 2004 Nissan Maxima

Bought brand new 2004 was a great car until it needed tires rotated from that point on we had a shimmy in the front end. Steering wheel vibration very bad on highway at 50+. Dealer changed struts, we changed tires with good year, then GY took back and made allowance on new tires still had vibration. No matter what it had to have tires balanced every 1000, 1500 miles to not vibrate. Also breaks make noise all the time even after have them changed at dealer. Turning radius is awful, dont try to park the car without backing up and pulling in again every time. Love the car, hate the problems, traded for a Toyota Avalon 2008

  • GREAT CAR BUT....... - 2004 Nissan Maxima

I love my new Maxima Sl, Love the heated steering wheel and heated seats for those cold days, Car handles great, controlablity arounf turns excellent, But, I wouldnt buy this car from Nissan 112 . The salesperson who sold me the car was rude and inconsiderate, wants to rush you with the sale and presures you to take the car home ASAP so he can get paid on his Commission, plus the day I was to take home the car, they added on to the sale price of my car that we agreed on, and added on alot of other misc. charges.

  • Enjoying the Stares - 2004 Nissan Maxima

I bought my red 2004 SE in September and although this is my first Nissan car, it certainly will not be the last. For months I considered buying a G35 and even had a black one one on order. While waiting for the G, I discovered the new Maximas and it stole my heart. It seems to fit my 62"/200lb frame better. I must confess that Im also enjoying all of the stares, thumbs ups and compliments Im getting as well. Deliriously fun to drive!

  • Luv my Max except.... - 2004 Nissan Maxima

I bought this car two months ago. I love the ext. styling. It looks so great. The SL model has everything and is comparable to Infiniti feature-wise. The one thing I really hate is the turning radius. I could make tighter turns in a bus. U-turns in one try just wont happen unless youre on a four lane road. Thats very disappointing that a car with so many great features comes up short in this one area. I dread even trying to make tight turns and sometimes wondered if I had been aware of it when I test drove it, if I still would have purchased it. From looking at 2006 and maybe even 2007 Maximas, Nissan still hasnt corrected what would make this car an absolute 10 in my opinion!
