Overview & Reviews
The Maxima has been fully redesigned for 2004. It now rides on the same underpinnings as the well-received Nissan Altima. This year's Maxima is longer, wider and more powerful than the previous version.
- Roomy interior, lots of upscale options, sweet V6, available with a manual transmission.
- Some small, oddly arranged controls.

Catch me if you can - 2004 Nissan Maxima
By Cam0001 - March 12 - 2:00 amThis is my second Maxima.(prev was a 1996 GLE)This one rides pretty hard. I think I would have been happier with the SL. It definately turns heads. The funny thing is that when ever I pull up to a light, everyone waits for me to pull off first. I love it! This car truly is a rocket.

Pleasure to Own - 2004 Nissan Maxima
By DSKuc - March 1 - 10:00 amAfter 14 years of boring, but reliable Accords (EX V6 last owned), its a pleasure to drive/own the new Maxima...head and shoulders above the previous Maxima. This is a comfortable, fun to drive car that has more head-turning quotient than any other cars in its class/price group. The best value to me is the SE with the Drivers Preferred Pkg...I didnt need anything else. If one is considdering loading it up with more options, they might consider looking at an entry model Lexus.

Peeling grill, oil leaking - 2004 Nissan Maxima
By tigger - February 20 - 4:30 pmI bought this car brand new and I loved it for the first 2 years. Then.. The main problems I have are the grill peels, I have replaced the brakes and pads several times and it still shimmys at high speeds, and I have oil leak. I have changed the oil every 2000 miles and I treat it like my baby. Unfortunately the CD player stopped working and the CD is stuck. The sun roof wont open and last but not least the car is very difficult to turn without going back and forth a few times. The heating system is terrible. It is near impossible to get it to defrost if it is humid out. This car has always been in the garage too.

Real Step Up - 2004 Nissan Maxima
By #3 maxima - February 15 - 10:00 amThis is my 3rd Maxima (I lease a new one every three years) and the SL is such a step up from my loaded 2000 GLE, it feels like I moved up to the power and performance I would expect from a $50,000 car. Sticker Price- $31,900. People stop and look and ask questions. Quiet, fast and luxurious..

What a difference a Maxima makes! - 2004 Nissan Maxima
By BrownJ - January 7 - 8:43 amSuper car for the money. Lots of power, quiet and you can even travel in it with out having to pull over and stretch after an hour. I traveled 4-1/2 hours without stopping once from San Diego to San Luis Obispo, CA.
