Overview & Reviews
The Maxima has been fully redesigned for 2004. It now rides on the same underpinnings as the well-received Nissan Altima. This year's Maxima is longer, wider and more powerful than the previous version.
- Roomy interior, lots of upscale options, sweet V6, available with a manual transmission.
- Some small, oddly arranged controls.

Maximized - 2004 Nissan Maxima
By reggieburris - December 31 - 10:00 amBeing an avid Honda owner and Honda fan it was quite a wakeup when I drove the Maxima. It is extremely fast and has an abundance of features. Besides the Nissan Dealership being inept I am pleased with my new/used Maxima. I did notice that the plastics are not up to Honda quality and smoothness and the torque steer can be atrocious if you are on you Ps and Qs. Considering the price I paid I feel I got a steal.

turning radius - 2004 Nissan Maxima
By Tonyd - December 31 - 10:00 amI just absolutely love the car. As much as I love it, I hate the turning radius even more. Cant even make a U-turn without backing up. Better radius on mini vans. Dont know what the engineers were thinking. Also, fresh air vent blows hot air. I understand a design flaw about letting in air over the engine. DUH! Glad I have auto climate control.

Nice car - 2004 Nissan Maxima
By JulieinGA - December 29 - 6:26 amI have been a Camry owner for the last 20 years. But I liked the luxury and handling of the Maxima and the price was right. It is my first real luxury car and I love all the bells and whistles. It is a pleasure to drive. The downers are very wide turning radius, back window is small and slanted reducing visibility and glare from dashboard on front windshield is distracting.

Transmission Nightmare - 2004 Nissan Maxima
By Patrick - November 9 - 2:40 pmLess than 65000 miles already have had one transmission replaced, two stock tires blow out, back interior shelf replaced, all 4 warped rotors replaced, front grill replaced, timing chain replaced, Air conditioning system needs to be replaced but not willing to pay 1300 dollars to do it. I am now replacing my 2nd transmission due to a defect acknowledged my nissan but not covered because out of 12000 mile part and 60000 mile powertrain warranty. I do not recommend this vehicle to anyone. This is my 2nd and last nissan vehicle I will ever purchase. Nissan consumer afairs and customer support group have yet to be helpful in this matter.

2004 Maxima - 2004 Nissan Maxima
By LDLDL5 - November 4 - 10:00 amAfter 3 weeks of driving this car, Im still impressed by everything about it except the milage. We have been doing a lot of stop & go driving and are getting about 18 mpg. The attention this car gets is great. The roomy, heated, leather seats, the trunk, the dash, the sound system is all you can ask for in a car like this one. The cabin is quiet and the car handles well on the road. Its like riding on air!!!

Nissan Maxima(2004) - 2004 Nissan Maxima
By sdahjkfhsakfhsajk - November 4 - 2:00 amThis is an amazing car. I test drove several other cars. I was about to buy the G35 when i noticed that with the features i wanted i would spend about 35000. Thank god i didnt. I was able to fully load it with the elite package and all the available accesories for about 36000. This definately the best deal i have seen in the market. The interior is splendid, it is extremely luxurios. Ergonomics ar wonderful. the 265 HP engine is excellent. I have never seen such a wonderful sound system. if u get this car definately get the bose 340 watt sound system. the two woofers are excellent and nissan was smart to put the tweeters on the d-pillars.

Great Car...and made in Tennesee - 2004 Nissan Maxima
By RDM - October 30 - 10:00 amDid much research before buying this car, it came down between a Acura TL and the Maxima. After driving both I cant see how anyone could not fall in love with this car. I got the SE 5- speed with sunroof and Journey package. There are so many new toys included in the new Maxima but the real joy is how quite and effortlessly it cruises at 100mph The looks will shock you at first but then after a close look you say "cool". Had a hard time finding the color and options I wanted due to 9000 Maximas getting hail damage at the factory, which is leaving dealers short on inventory. Still I was able to buy it for $300 over invoice.
