Overview & Reviews
The Maxima has been fully redesigned for 2004. It now rides on the same underpinnings as the well-received Nissan Altima. This year's Maxima is longer, wider and more powerful than the previous version.
- Roomy interior, lots of upscale options, sweet V6, available with a manual transmission.
- Some small, oddly arranged controls.

Wonderful Max. - 2004 Nissan Maxima
By MDao - May 8 - 10:00 amThis is my first Maxima, I bought it two months ago.I just brought the car in for repair due to rattling noises from the dashboard and rear speaker, right front brake squeaking, and the rear left door rubber seal came off! The dealer was happy to fixed them all. So far I am very satisfied with the dealers services. Over all I love the car, its fast and fun to drive.

Where Oh Where Has Quality Gone - 2004 Nissan Maxima
By FORMER FAN - April 18 - 10:00 amThis is my third Maxima since 1995. It is the most leading edge styling. Dont let that fool you. It is the worst car for quality Ive ever owned. I am shocked at how many quality errors passed inspection on this car! Its bad enough the steering radius is so large you cant turn into a parking stall without going back and forth. Things dont fit right. Things rattle in the doors. Leather seats sewn crooked. Greasy fingerprints behind the glass on the display panel. Worst of all is after 3 days back at the dealers, they fixed none of these items. NISSAN, SHAME ON YOU!!!!!

Happy Then, Scared Now - 2004 Nissan Maxima
By Paul - April 7 - 5:16 amWell, I bought my Maxima used and I loved the way it handled the road. Fuel economy is great. It has great power when I need it. I have come to some problems with the car though. I have had the transmission fixed on it with just 41,000 miles on it. And it hasnt run the same. Had the BOSE radio replace because CD didnt work. Im scared there will be other problems ahead. Turn radius is terrible. I had a 2000 Maxima and the turn radius was great in that one. Road noise is bad but, thinking its the standard OE tires that are bad. Other than that it is a fun car to drive.

Great car with one problem. - 2004 Nissan Maxima
By P Tyler - April 6 - 2:00 amive always been a fan of the maxima, and the 04 is no exception. It has plenty of power, and the Bose stero is terrific. While not thr best in its class, its pretty competative. My main problem and only is the annoying torque steer. Nissan keeps uping the power of the car each year, and its pass its limit. Infinity cars have rear wheel, why not Nissan?

Timing Chain - 2004 Nissan Maxima
By JAC - March 29 - 12:30 amThis 04 nissan maxima 3.5 SE is a stick and is quick for a 4door sedan but unfortunately the car has been a big disappointment. The car has had a least two recalls and the rear panel always rattled. I finally got nissan to put in additional padding to get the rattling to stop. The oil has to be changed often or the engine will run very noisy. The sun roof leaks and now after 28000 miles the timing chain has to be changed which is costing me around 2k Im done with nissan never again JAC

A little too SPORTY... - 2004 Nissan Maxima
By Hulesy - March 26 - 10:00 amDefinite BANG for the buck;however it has always been. I feel with the new cost should have had a little more luxury but I chose the SE so I guess cant complain.

maxima rating - 2004 Nissan Maxima
By first time new car - March 21 - 10:00 amwe purchased the 2004 maxima in aug. 13 miles on it. it is the se model with the 3.5 i like the car, but hate the seats, they are short on the bottom, and hard. i have yet to set my seat position because i havent found a comfort zone yet. the remote for the outside mirrors is not in a good location, you have to reach forward, and down to adjust the mirror, and then sit back to see if its right. our car listed for over 32,000. my husband refused to pay that amount, and with trade in, we ended up paying 27 but i think we still paid too much. he loves it, but i drive it daily, and im not so sure i would purchase one again, unless i was able to take it home for a weekend, and drive it.
