This Year's Model Updates:

The Maxima has been fully redesigned for 2004. It now rides on the same underpinnings as the well-received Nissan Altima. This year's Maxima is longer, wider and more powerful than the previous version.

Pros:
  • Roomy interior, lots of upscale options, sweet V6, available with a manual transmission.
Cons:
  • Some small, oddly arranged controls.

  • Worse NISSAN EVER Made - 2004 Nissan Maxima

Where do i start. i have had four generations of nissan maxima 4th 5th 6th and 7th generation maximas. So im talking from experience because i know how the car should opperate and run. But the 2004 nissan maxima SE has to be the worse car ever made by nissan. The timming belt, transmission, coils, shocks, struts, car seats all broke apart every 6 months apart. It seems like the put the car together with tape. Its just very badly designed. I never had any issues with any other car? i still have my 5th and 6th generation maximas running. Dont bother looking at the 2004 maxima. Just jump straight to the 8th generation maxima its worth it.

great looks, handles well, and the price is good for a family sized car with plenty of power and good fuel mileage. It has classy looks and performs well.

I absolutely love this car. I loved my 01 SL but this is so much better. Roomy, fun to drive and it turns a lot of heads. I love the skyview too. I purchased in 5/03 and have more than 17K miles now...gets 26-27 mpg on freeway and 23-25 in the city. I sit traffic everyday and it still gets gas mileage.I didnt get the nav. system but love the display anyway, has a lot of useful info. especially the maintenance reminder. Will definitely recommend and purchase the next generation.

We bought this car in March of 2010, with 85,000 miles; it now has 96,000, after only 5 months. So far, it has been a very reliable, roomy, and comfortable family car. We average around 24.5 mpg. On a recent 300-mile trip, I averaged 31.2 mpg with luggage and a passenger. The front seats are comfortable, but the seat backs are shaped oddly, and can become annoying. The back seat is huge, and is more comfortable than the front. It is very enjoyable to drive, with lots of power, engaging handling, and a firm yet compliant ride. It is quiet inside, with only minor road noise. The BOSE sound system sounds great, and the radio display is excellent. I would highly recommend this car to anyone.

Love this car. Seats are exceptionally comfortable. Love that all the information is in a centralized location. I have the 6 speed. Like driving a sports car. Only draw back is the very wide radius turn. Power and speed is awesome. Only drawback is the wide radius turn. Can be a bit of a hassle when parking.

This is the 3rd Maxima I have owned and the 6th Nissan I have bought. I do enjoy Nissan and I sincerely believe, for the money, a consumer cannot do much better. I love driving my new Maxima. With each one I own, I have more fun. I love the digital dash and being informed of tire rotations and oil changes, which only enhance the life of the car. Great job Nissan!
