Overview & Reviews
The Maxima has been fully redesigned for 2004. It now rides on the same underpinnings as the well-received Nissan Altima. This year's Maxima is longer, wider and more powerful than the previous version.
- Roomy interior, lots of upscale options, sweet V6, available with a manual transmission.
- Some small, oddly arranged controls.

Comfortable Drive, but problems aplenty - 2004 Nissan Maxima
By edoug93 - November 11 - 8:41 amBought my 2004 maxima with just above 100,000 miles 2 and a half years ago, have 125,000 miles on it now. Its a pretty fast car, rides comfortably at high speeds, and has really good stock speakers. But, it has had way too many problems. Power steering pump died on me, tensioners on the chain broke, both cam shaft sensors died and would cut all power to the car when moving, sunroof wont open, the climate controls wont work, including the defrosters, which isnt fun in the winter. CD player doesnt work. I feel the transmission shifting heavy now, which isnt good at all. This car has turned me off to nissan, I will probably end up getting a different vehicle in the immediate future.

Love my Maxi - 2004 Nissan Maxima
By mreck - November 4 - 12:06 pmI love my Maxima. Great to drive, eats up the road. Seats are mildly uncomfortable and the wheels tend to need rebalancing oftem. Tires are expensive ($350 each) to replace.

You Decide - 2004 Nissan Maxima
By LewBank - November 3 - 8:53 amI actually like driving this car and its style. However, I feel that purchasing this vehicle was a mistake. I bought this car because I wanted a sporty dependable car to drive around town and on the road. I would call this vehicle anything but dependable. My steering has had a problem for 3 months and my dealer and Nissan is doing little to repair it--I am considering legal action. This is my second Maxima. I owned an American vehicle in between the two maximas. I liked all three cars, but GM gave me much better customer service and service to my vehicle. I wished that I had bought the small caddy instead of the Maxima. Think twice before buying a new Maxima.
