This Year's Model Updates:

The Maxima has been fully redesigned for 2004. It now rides on the same underpinnings as the well-received Nissan Altima. This year's Maxima is longer, wider and more powerful than the previous version.

Pros:
  • Roomy interior, lots of upscale options, sweet V6, available with a manual transmission.
Cons:
  • Some small, oddly arranged controls.

  • Great Nissan - 2004 Nissan Maxima

I ordered this vehicle when it was first introduced. The Maxima has been a great car. The only minor glitches have been some shoddy interior trim pieces; namely the power cord cover and the storage compartment cover below the radio. Performance wise the car is stellar. It has more torque steer than I care for though. All in all a great car and comfortable to drive.

I have been researching this car since Nissan teased me with their mailings featuring the new body style. Like I told the salesman - he did not have to "sell" me the car. I wanted it the moment I sat in it.

Nissan always manage to improve on a already good product. I have purchased Nissans over the past 25 years and I have been satisfied with the quality and technology that NIssan manages to bring to the table.

I have never owned a Nissan before. I am more than pleased with everything about this car. It is got the power, comfort and looks. I could not be more pleased. Well, seoond thought, maybe if it were not as expensive.

Looked at Acura TL, G35x, and 04 Max. All great cars but Max won out on best value, dealership, ability to carry 4 people most comfortability. This car can move. Torque steer is present but not a major issue.

  • Poor Quality high price - 2004 Nissan Maxima

This car has the low profile look and price of a sports sedan. It runs on premium fuel like a sports sedan but that s where thre simalarity ends. the Tourque steer is so strong it is dangerious, mine came with limited slip Diferential and the pull on excelleration is still cripleing. The steering feels loose over 60mph. Dificulty seeing over the dashbord. interior is poor quality. shifer is nochy with a lot of play, feels cheep.my carshifter tends to pop out of gear a huge safty hazerd.7)the car feel bigger than it is.The turning radius is huge for a car this size.my vechicle has been in 3 times for the shifter sliping out of gear, consumer affairs has heard

Its exciting to drive. Once you get used to the torque steer you dont mind it much. Some sloppy assembly - a missing nut under the hood. A breather hose that wasnt attached.

  • Not for introverts... - 2004 Nissan Maxima

Traded in 02 Altima which was great car. Fell in love with the rear end design and 265 HP. Feels like 295. This from a Buick Grand National owner.
