Overview & Reviews
The Maxima has been fully redesigned for 2004. It now rides on the same underpinnings as the well-received Nissan Altima. This year's Maxima is longer, wider and more powerful than the previous version.
- Roomy interior, lots of upscale options, sweet V6, available with a manual transmission.
- Some small, oddly arranged controls.

This Car Will Always Be Golden - 2004 Nissan Maxima
By SuperMax - June 10 - 10:00 amThis car has never been better. Nice quiet ride with very aggressive and responsive pulls at hard acceleration. Its a 2005 so it doesnt have too many bugs, but thats yet to be witnessed. An overall good value.

Every Max I get is better - 2004 Nissan Maxima
By Mitiwanga - May 14 - 2:00 amIve owned Nissans since 1971. This one is by far the best. Lots of power, and although Im somewhat disappointed in the gas mileage (about 22.5), I expect it to get better. The Bose is great, and I like the computer in the middle of the dash. I opted for the sun roof instead of those faux pax sun screens, and I think I like the sun roof better.

Beautiful. Waste of money - 2004 Nissan Maxima
By ataylor13 - May 13 - 1:07 pmI purchased this car due to how beautiful it is and powerful, got a great deal on it but now I know why it was so cheap. After a week of having this car at 111,400 miles I realized it is having minor transmission issues. Going fast and staying at a consistent shift it drives like a dream. Stop and go traffic however; a nightmare. Wasted my time and money, currently looking for a new commuter due to me going to college and working.

2004 SE - 2004 Nissan Maxima
By Stephen Napolitano - May 9 - 2:00 amMy Maxima now has 6,000 miles on it and I have experienced absolutely no problems with it. It runs and handles better than the (now old) BMW 5 series. The skylight is a little different but the kids like it. The trunk swallows golf bags and the back seat is actually comfortable.

Deceptively Quick - 2004 Nissan Maxima
By cndrdan - May 4 - 10:00 amIve owned a half a dozen Nissans, and have been pleased with them all, but my 2004 Maxima stands head and shoulders above its predecessors. A real attention getter style-wise and very fast off the line (especially for an automatic transmission). I LOVE IT !!

Awesome! - 2004 Nissan Maxima
By Vrhodes - April 29 - 11:50 amLove it! love it! love it! Ive owned mine for two years. The only thing I would change is the cup holders in the back should be larger. they only accommodate a cup the size of a soda can. bummer for the kids. other than that...LOVE IT!

Better than a Beemer - 2004 Nissan Maxima
By JPG - April 28 - 10:00 amIts a great car, the engine performance is all I had hoped for. I love that there is a lot of space inside and compared to both the 3 and new 5 series BMW, I feel you get a lot more bang for your buck, especially when you consider maintenance costs. The navigation system is a big plus for me and although it took some time to figure out it has some great features!

a look back - 2004 Nissan Maxima
By ew - April 21 - 2:00 amThe Maxima has been a pleasure to drive. The handling is excellent and the car is quick! Many people have stopped me to ask questions. It looks good. I have two friends that have riden and driven my Maxima and both have ordered the 2005 model. This is the 3rd Nisson Ive had and all have had incredible reliability. I will probably trade my 2000 SUV in on a 2005 Pathfinder.
