Overview & Reviews
The Maxima has been fully redesigned for 2004. It now rides on the same underpinnings as the well-received Nissan Altima. This year's Maxima is longer, wider and more powerful than the previous version.
- Roomy interior, lots of upscale options, sweet V6, available with a manual transmission.
- Some small, oddly arranged controls.

Flawed Model - 2004 Nissan Maxima
By Chuck - March 6 - 2:46 amThe Nissan Maxima has always been a "dream car" of mine. Now that I finally own one, I am a bit disappointed. To its credit, the car is beautiful inside and out and a blast to drive. Unfortunately, all my visits to the service department have soured my overall experience. In two years, I have had two recalls. One for a wire in the seat (minor), and another for a corroding rear sub- frame. The latter is a major repair. The battery has also corroded on me and I have had 2 front-driver-side struts go out in less than a years time. There seems to be a lot of corroding going on for a car less than two years old. Yes, its still under warranty, but I feel my troubles are just beginning.

Excellent - 2004 Nissan Maxima
By Quincy - February 26 - 10:00 amThis is my 2nd Maxima the first was a 01 maxima SE, it is by far the best overall car I have had, especially at the price, you get a lot of bang for your bucks. Other high end cars you will spend thousands to add all the options, with this car it was already in place. It is a sweet car, gets looks

Poor Quality - 2004 Nissan Maxima
By Nancy A - February 26 - 10:00 amBuying this car has been a huge disappointment. In the first month the car has been back to dealer multiple times for tire rotation, tire replacement, and lowering air pressure in tires. Car continues to have front end vibration on freeway. I am told that is how Nissan cars are. Glove box not flush when closed. Part on order to repair. This is the first and last Nissan I will ever own. Drive the car over 60 mph before you buy.

MY SECOND MAXIMA - 2004 Nissan Maxima
By MYTH1977 - February 26 - 10:00 amMy first Maxima was a 2000 model. The car quality, ride and reliability prompted me to by a new 2004 model. The new model is yet 100 times better by means of styling, power, refinement, quality, and over-all increased fun factor of driving. People have broken necks when they see me drive!

The "4DSC" Has Returned - 2004 Nissan Maxima
By raven - February 13 - 10:00 amVirtually outstanding in every way. Smooth acceleration, Confident handling and braking characteristics. Very steady and sure footed at highway speeds. Quiet spacious interior. Tremendous head and leg room (Im 64).Visibility is excellent throughout. Chose this vehicle over the G-35, because of overall value and styling. The old Z line applies to this car. "AWESOME".

Worse Nissan Ever - 2004 Nissan Maxima
By ttranrx - February 9 - 1:50 pmIve had my maxima for 5 years and already have transmission problems. It will cost me $4000 to get a rebuilt transmission which is horrible for a 5 year old car. Will never buy a Nissan for a long time. Would warn anyone buying a Nissan Maxima and for them to google Nissan Maxima and transmission problems.

getting a lot of looks - 2004 Nissan Maxima
By mandameyer - February 7 - 10:00 amMy first Nissan, and I am very pleased. Everyone that gets in raves about what a gorgeos car it is. I got the rear bucket seats, and LOVE them! (As do the kids!) Everywhere we go, people are asking us about it, weve been approache sitting in traffic, in parking lots just about everywhere. All I can say is just take it for a test drive!

I hate this car - 2004 Nissan Maxima
By Nacole Gusler - February 5 - 10:00 amI bought my car brand new and have had nothing but trouble since. Sunroof opens by itself, window motor has been replaced several times, major transmission problems, replaced brakes several times, replaced axles, struts wheel barrons and calibers. This is just the beginning of my list. I hate this car, I will NEVER buy another Nissan due to this. This is the worst experience i have ever had with a car, and the dealership has never been very helpful. Told them about my transmission and their response was stuff happens. too bad it happens to most or all 2004 nissan maximas and nothing will be done about it!

great car with one snag - 2004 Nissan Maxima
By chris stennett - January 21 - 10:00 amthis is a beautiful car with a bit of european touch this is my first max and Im impressed as I usually buy BMWs, however there is one drawback the horsepower seem too high for a front wheel drive in other words if you should floor the pedal from a stopped position(eg a red light or highway on ramp without a mergge)youd better hold on with both hands because itll pull to the sides ,I think a rear wheel or four wheel drive would perfect handleing.other than that i would sell my BM and buy another.
