Overview & Reviews
The Maxima has been fully redesigned for 2004. It now rides on the same underpinnings as the well-received Nissan Altima. This year's Maxima is longer, wider and more powerful than the previous version.
- Roomy interior, lots of upscale options, sweet V6, available with a manual transmission.
- Some small, oddly arranged controls.

DO NOT BUY THIS CAR - 2004 Nissan Maxima
By 111zzz - May 8 - 11:23 amI WOULD STRONGLY RECOMMEND EVERYONE TO NOT BUY THIS CAR. I have read other peoples comments. They are right. I also have met a lot of problems in this car, like jerking, transmission. I will not fix the transmission. Probably I will fix the jerking. I just want to to drive it for a while. Then I will throw it. I am lucky that I did not spend much on this used vehicle. DO NOT TRUST NISSIAN.

MS. MAXIMA OF ATLANTA - 2004 Nissan Maxima
By G CHAMBERS - April 21 - 2:00 amI love my Maxima!!! I only wish that I could afford to have several colors! I purchased the Majestic Blue 3.5SE...but I love all the colors. I thought that the 96 was smooth...but my 2004 is beyond smooth (the best just keeps on getting better). The initial take off is more than impressive...and I really love demonstrating this fact to my friends and any 18 wheelers that are in my way (I just, effortlessly, leave them in the dust). Dollar for dollar...you cannot lose with this awesome baby. You have everything you would get in highline vehicle...at thousands of dollars less! Im so proud to own a Nissan. Thank you... Ms. Maxima of Atlanta

This is my third Maxima - 2004 Nissan Maxima
By Millie - April 13 - 6:30 amThis is a great car inside and out. Comfortable and exciting to drive. Only objections are the poor turning radius and the occasional tendency of the car to "get away" from you when accelerating under certain conditions, two flaws I knew about before purchasing, but which did not deter me because Maximas are so reliable. Also, original set of tires went 60K miles before needing replacement. I owned 1989, 1994 and 2004 models and liked them all. Had zero mechanical problems. Drove the 1994 for 10 yrs, 105K miles and sold it for $5K. I do a lot of highway driving and this car is fantastic for long trips.

MR. MAX - 2004 Nissan Maxima
By skillz69 - April 10 - 10:00 amSimply put you have to drive this car to feel the sensation it produces for the driver. This is such a smooth driving car which is also quick and precise. The SE which I own has got a really controlled ride and handling. The motor and transmission are so flexible it is smooth and wild at the same time. Kick this baby down and listen to the motor hustle the car seamlessly. I had a 2001 Maxima as well and hated to part with it. After having this for about a year I have never felt bad about my 2001 Maxima loss. This is a car that needs to be driven to appreciate.

Nssan Maxisauras - 2004 Nissan Maxima
By eddie - April 3 - 10:30 pmI prchased a 2000 Nissan Maxima when it was brand new. I owned it for 16 months and sold it. I did not always use recommended premium fuel and it caused the engine to exhibit gurgling sounds especially in between gears or going up hill slowly. The turning radius was terrible as was the economy. 40% of epa. Cheap leather and interior materials. Like most maximas it burns headlights

Family Hot Rod - 2004 Nissan Maxima
By glenn - April 2 - 12:06 pmThis car is not your boring family car.Plenty of room for everyone and fun to drive. The power is unbelievable. Get compliments on the looks all the time. We have had it for a year and no mechanical problems. No steering or suspension problems as in other reviews. The eagle rsa are cracking on the sidewall with 34,000 mi.Only downsides are torque steer and turning radius.

Get Your Own!! - 2004 Nissan Maxima
By MadMAXin CT - March 21 - 10:00 amThis is truly an awesome car!! From the head turning style to the neck snapping accelleration, I LOVE IT!!! The 265HP V6 is smooth and fast. The 5spd auto trans is also smooth as silk. The handling is very nimble and steady. No push, very little body roll while cornering or in curves. Monster 18" wheels, wide tires, this is GREAT!! averging 24mpg. Not too shabby for such a powerful engine. Great fit, finish. Interior is roomy and nicely appointed. Great sound system and the race inspired gauge binacle is sweet and well lit. Maybe the guy who wrote the first review should trade his in. Perhaps he thought he was buying something different?

Maxima #1 - 2004 Nissan Maxima
By kevmax - March 21 - 10:00 amThe car rides great and when you need to pass there is no better engine than the Nissan V6. I debated between the Altima V6 and the Maxima, but Im very happy with my decision. The tighter suspension on the Maxima, bigger wheels, the controlled acceleration, along with the safety features, the cars slow depreciation and the cars overall history helped me make a better decision.
