This Year's Model Updates:

The Maxima has been fully redesigned for 2004. It now rides on the same underpinnings as the well-received Nissan Altima. This year's Maxima is longer, wider and more powerful than the previous version.

Pros:
  • Roomy interior, lots of upscale options, sweet V6, available with a manual transmission.
Cons:
  • Some small, oddly arranged controls.

After looking at the G35, Passat, Acura, etc. we settled on the 2004 Maxima. Got what we wanted for 30K out the door. So far very happy with performance, ride, general quality. Our first Nissan, hope it lives up to past relibility.

Ive owned a number of performance, performance/luxury, and luxury cars over the years, none of them could touch my 2004 Maxima SE. This car is really something special. I like it more and more with each trip.

The 04 Maxima by Nissan is a head- turning vehicle. People have stopped and asked what is it? Very roomy, great pick-up, sporty steering wheel, huge back seat with great leg room. Quiet, smooth, little to no wind noise, and all buttons and gauges are self- explanatory.

This is my third Nissan and Ive loved them all. I bought this car new and find it totally reliable and wonderful to drive. Ive had no problems with the performance or the quality of the vehicle. Ive replaced nothing and my interior still looks great. The only negative thing I have to say about it is the turning radius is too wide.

Bought the 3.5 SE with auto trans and majestic blue exterior. Love the engine and trans combo (dual mode smoothness), performance that seems lethargic but is actually hot, terrific engine growl under hard acceleration, absolutely NO torque steer with auto trans (have not driven manual). I evaluated the GS400 (used), 2004 TL, G35 Coupe and sedan, ALTIMA V6 and the Maxima represents the best bang-for-buck overall. Recommend as a solid buy, although resale not its strength. I have received so many compliments and admiring glances from other motorists, including from wealthy drivers of euro high-end sedans and coupes.

A nice improveent over my previous one, a 95. Seats are more comfortable, instruments easier to read, lots of bells and whistles for reasonable price.
