This Year's Model Updates:

Since the Maxima was updated last year and is scheduled for a redesign in 2004, there are no major changes in store for the family sedan in 2003. There's a Titanium Edition package available for the SE and side airbags are now standard on GLEs.

Pros:
  • Impressively powerful V6 engine, sports car moves, availability of premium features, plenty of room for five adults.
Cons:
  • High price, rough ride quality with SE suspension.

  • Great Car for the Money - 2003 Nissan Maxima

I have had this car for about a week now and it is awesome! I am 25 and it is my 8th vehicle - all previous were either ford or GM and they simply didnt last. I looked at the Accord (what were they thinking with that ass end??), Camry (30k for a camry?!?!), & VW Passat (too trendy and NO power). The maxima is actually similar to the TL & Lexus ES in size, performance, interior quality, and image. The appearance and performance really separate it from its tradtional competitors, and price only makes it a more attractive package.

  • Reliable and fun to drive but noisy - 2003 Nissan Maxima

I drove the SE model for almost 5 years. Much better built than my 1999 Camry. Good power and handling. The car was reliable but far from perfect. First it was one of the noisiest cars from the wind I have ever driven, wind leaked in from everywhere. Second was the 1 wheel drive. The front right tire drove the whole car. Third was the steering radius, the longest of any car made.premium unleaded is not necessary., no pinging with regular and the same gas mileage.

This car exudes authority on the highway. Acceleration between 3k and 4k rpm is coffee spilling, head-thrown- back fun. The perfect mix of family sedan/screamin rubber. 140mph feels like 60mph

  • Hard to Beat - 2003 Nissan Maxima

We purchased this car used, knowing that it was an ex-rental previously. If ever there was an invitation for disaster, this would be it. And yet… this was a 2003 Nissan Maxima SE, allegedly a Japanese BMW, available for pennies on the dollar compared to new. As the old saying goes; even a blind squirrel finds an acorn now and then. And boy did we ever! I’m 6’4” tall and still fit comfortably. Acceleration is impressive, as is fuel economy (even while using regular), the handling brings out the teen in me (Im mid 50s now), and yet it is still a functional and dependable sedan and business mode of transportation with which to entertain clients in.

  • Fun, Fast, Comfortable.... - 2003 Nissan Maxima

Since I rarely ever buy the first model year of any car, I tagged on to the tail-end of this generation Maxima. The deals being offered make them a better buy than a simlarly equipped Altima! I could not pass it up - and I am happy I did not. Before you buy a new Altima 3.5, see if the dealer has a Maxima. They are a great value and a wonderful car.
