Overview & Reviews
The Maxima receives updates this year that make it less of a family sedan and more of an entry-level luxury sport sedan. Headlining this year's upgrades is a 3.5-liter V6 that produces a stunning 255 horsepower. For maximum performance, sport-tuned SE models now combine this engine with a standard six-speed manual transmission. Other changes include revised exterior styling, additional feature content and an optional GPS navigation system.
- Impressively powerful V6 engine, sports car moves, plenty of room for five adults.
- Odd styling details, high price, rough ride quality with SE suspension.

2002 Maxima GLE - 2002 Nissan Maxima
By 2002maximachic - March 31 - 7:05 amLove this car (model/year) - bought in Dallas with 84K and it runs great with 171k now. Just recently I found that during heavy traffic it slips a little. It sort of goes with oil but got that fix. I dont know anything about buying transmissions but where do you start to figure the cost?

I love my 2002 Maxima - 2002 Nissan Maxima
By MaxLover - March 8 - 3:06 pmI got my Maxima over a year ago... it was roughed up by some college kid who could not afford payments. Yes it has some dents, dings and rust. It also does not have the best fuel economy but it is a fun to drive car that has a huge engine (3.5) to other comparable cars in its class... It has 255 horsepower with 246 ft-lbs torque... i had w rated tires on there... and my car ran like a new car. the engine is very strong and reliable... everything in my car is running strong... and im glad i bought this car

Beast traped in a Luxury body 255-V6 SE - 2002 Nissan Maxima
By AznGiant - February 16 - 2:00 amI resurched quite a few cars(Jetta, accord, camery, impala, prelude,) before I mad the decision to get this car, and I am glad I made the right choice,This car is one of the funnest car ive ever driven. The suspension is a little rough but all the other avantages like the engine makes up for it. to shorten it up "looks nice, seats nice, woops ass."

I love my maxima - 2002 Nissan Maxima
By A Nissan Fan - January 31 - 10:00 amGreat car, fun to drive and great engine! I have 38500k on my 02 SE and am very happy with it. Bridgestone tires are not good in wet weather, but it doesnt rain in socal! Handles great! SE sticks to the road like glue during cornering. The car is quick and nimble for its size and weight. Bose stereo is overrated (it has a tape player in it, who owns tapes?)This car is a blast to drive on hills and curves, especially when you are passing bmrs and acuras!

Its the little things... - 2002 Nissan Maxima
By SlipperyMax - January 13 - 10:00 amOverall I have been very pleased with my Max. The 6 speed is great (a little notchy). Sound system is good enough. Really like the lumbar support. This is all good as long as you dont wreck it. The tires are TERRIBLE. They have zero traction in wet weather. Dont even try the snow. For $30k, I want a better paint job. I guess they figure youll wreck it in the rain/snow, then have to paint it anyway.

worth it! - 2002 Nissan Maxima
By joulia benton - January 7 - 9:26 pmI used to drive a chevy cavalier and I loved it but it was not reliable. I knew I had to trade it in and as soon as I saw my maxima and took it out for a spin I knew right away I had to have it. I know it was used but Ive heard a lot of good things about Nissan and plus I got a 3 year warranty. I love my Nissian maxima and shes been good to me and I know we got alot of years ahead. Joulia
