Since the Maxima was updated last year and is scheduled for a redesign in 2004, there are no major changes in store for the family sedan in 2003. There's a Titanium Edition package available for the SE and side airbags are now standard on GLEs.

• Impressively powerful V6 engine, sports car moves, availability of premium features, plenty of room for five adults.

  Should I have gone Passat 4 Motion? - 2003 Nissan Maxima

  I bought the Maxima because it is sportier than the Passat4M, as well as a little bit less expensive. The problem which is not the cars fault, is after driving it around for 2 weekes and racking 2000 miles, I find my self asking " do I really like Japanese cars? It is definately cheaper inside and out, the handling is ok, not as good a feel as the Passat, but most of all it just seems to lack a personality? It does everything well, looks great but do I crave to get behind the wheel...sadly no. It is a good basic car, but more like an auotmaotive robot vs a trusted old friend that I cant wait to play with in some fun road.

  there is nothing better than the maxima. It gives you a little bit of both worlds, the luxury and the performance. is the best car Ive ever owned. Nissan keep doing what youre doing, because in a couple of years Nissan is gonna be better than Honda and Toyota

  Looking at other cars in the class - Acura, Audi, Saab etc for $10K less the Maxima is the best bargin out there. 255 HP is plenty, infact I call this family car STUPID FAST, The ride is smooth, the cornering is great. Compared to the other two Altima SEs that I have owned this is a huge step up in fit and finish as well as creature comforts. The 6 spd is fine, although I have not had too many chance to wind the thing up where 6th gear is needed. Acceleration is excellent and stability while accelerating is good for a front wheel drive car. For $21K it is a steal, yes $21K not the sticker $27K...

  It has been six months since we purchased our 02 GLE and we have been very happy with it. We even added the rear spoiler to the car so it looks like the SE.

  We have had our Maxima for a while now. I was originally looking at the Accord, but after test driving my friends, I scrapped the Honda idea. I had no idea it had that much power! The car is a rocketship when you want it to be. It is approaching 100k, and I have never had any problems with it. I am looking forward to having many more years of fun. It is a great car that can easily fit 4 adults and has a ton of trunk space for all of your stuff. I absolutely love my Maxima, and would buy it again in a heartbeat!

  Already Traded It In - 2003 Nissan Maxima

  This was my fourth Maxima, and it was not what I expected. Its probably my fault for buying the SE model, but the car rode really, really rough and was way too loud. The interior seemed cheap, but it was roomy. I traded it in on a used BMW 523i after only a few months and I havent looked back.

  Yeah I had a ford explorer before this, and was gonna get another truck. This car tho...is big enough to carry most everthing i move around...the 6sp is fun but rough in constant traffic. The gas milegage over having the truck is fantastic...fun car to drive, and gets good looks.

  I have had the car for a little over a week now and all I can say is WOW!! The acceleration is unreal and the fit and finish is top notch. Bose stereo is second only to Lexus Mark Levinson. Got a great deal(bought at invoice) and the whole dealer experience was excellent, will definitely buy the 04 when it debuts.
