Overview & Reviews
A 20th Anniversary edition includes the 227-horsepower version of the standard 3.0-liter V6 from the Infiniti I30, as well as goodies like bronze-lensed headlight covers, a body kit, ersatz carbon-fiber interior trim, drilled metal pedals and a number of features normally optional on the SE. This special model also gets an exclusive color: Majestic Blue. A new Meridian package is optional on all Maximas, bundling side-impact airbags and a low washer fluid indicator with heated front seats and side mirrors, as well as special trunk lid trim. Adding optional traction control to the SE or GLE results in a Z Edition Maxima, for some zany reason.
- Silky and powerful V6 engine, sports car moves, room for the whole family.
- Odd styling details, high price, rough ride quality with SE suspension.

2 thumbs up - 2001 Nissan Maxima
By Hudson4028 - April 11 - 2:00 amI purchased this car because it was a nissan and I knew it was reputable. I also knew how powerful and reliable the engine was since my 96 infiniti I30 has the exact same engine. So far I am very happy with the maxima.

Im a mechanic :) - 2001 Nissan Maxima
By majsterMAX - January 24 - 10:00 amBeing a mechanic for Acura I get to drive a great deal of cars, used to work for other car companies and even Nissan- having owned 3 so far- my old 90 SE 5spd Max had 340K miles, I went right for the 01 GXE 5spd with intention of NOT keeping it stock and trying to see how long it will run redlined every chance it gets, even with burning tires right off the dealer lot with 2 miles on the ODO at 63K now its only gotten oil changes and tranny fluid changes-2 so far- Redline MTL90. I autocross this big boat and road race it-its fully modified.

Not the Best Car in the World - 2001 Nissan Maxima
By Scott15 - November 18 - 10:00 amThis 01 GXE was my first new car. Problem is, now Im having lots of little problems w/it. First off, the rear shocks bottom out over speed bumps. I took it in under warrenty and they played stupid like nothing was wrong. Then the CD player quit working. It just gives me an error msg. The steering wheel radio controls only work when its hot outside.

Excellent Automobile - 2001 Nissan Maxima
By Mathilde - August 13 - 3:16 amThis car has been totally reliable for my husband and me in the 2 1/2 years we have owned it, routine maintanence only, no problems whatsoever. This is the second Maxima I have owned and would definitely recommend this car as a solid, reliable and fun vehicle to own. We have two children and they fit in the back just fine, a little tight with two carseats.
