This Year's Model Updates:

Since the Maxima was updated last year and is scheduled for a redesign in 2004, there are no major changes in store for the family sedan in 2003. There's a Titanium Edition package available for the SE and side airbags are now standard on GLEs.

Pros:
  • Impressively powerful V6 engine, sports car moves, availability of premium features, plenty of room for five adults.
Cons:
  • High price, rough ride quality with SE suspension.

  • A great Car for the money - 2003 Nissan Maxima

My SE is about only two weeks old. I find that the car performs extremely well and handling is superb: power on demand, especially when merging with traffic in the highways. Performance is inversely proportional to mileage. Xenon lamps are great and the audio system is decent too. Opening the windows with a remote is an ideal feature. A good performance car in all respects.

Been driving almost two years. VQ engine is smooth, powerful, and fun. My biggest complaint is the rear beam suspension. Used to drive a 99 mazda 626 (independent rear) and the tail felt less fishy and more planted than my Maxima. Tires are awful too. poor tires + beam susp make the perfomance subpar for a sports sedan. Build quality can be improved. After two years of driving on stiff suspension and poorly maintained roads, there are quite a few conspicuous interior rattles and creeks.

I bought this car used with 45,000 miles on it last year. City mileage is in the low 20s but I get nearly 40 mpg on the highway! The car has incredible power and handles like a dream. The ride is firm but very comfortable on a long drive. The headroom in the rear is too low for my 61" son.

The Nissan Maxima is the best car I have ever had. This is the first car I have purchased in my young life and I dont think I will ever buy anything else. The car rides so smooth its like your riding on air. The power from the 3.5 V6 is amazing! I love the way it handels. And the way it accelerates. I have not had one problem with it.

How many 6-cylinder mid-size sedans can return a highway mileage in excess of 32 mpg? I can consistently achieve this economy with the 2002 Nissan Maxima SE with manual transmission. The 6-speed manual transmission takes some getting used to, but it is silky smooth, very responsive, and above all economical on the highway. With a mix of highway and local driving, I can average 30-32 mpg and still have the sporty feel and comfort of this first rate automobile.

I truly love this car! It was a toss up between a Lexus and the Maxima and the Maxima won by far! It is very stylish and dependable! I feel this is an excellent value for the money. The car feels very solid and safe to drive, I dont feel like I m driving in a tin can on wheels.
