This Year's Model Updates:

Since the Maxima was updated last year and is scheduled for a redesign in 2004, there are no major changes in store for the family sedan in 2003. There's a Titanium Edition package available for the SE and side airbags are now standard on GLEs.

Pros:
  • Impressively powerful V6 engine, sports car moves, availability of premium features, plenty of room for five adults.
Cons:
  • High price, rough ride quality with SE suspension.

  • Amazing!! - 2003 Nissan Maxima

We have had our Maxima for a while now. I was originally looking at the Accord, but after test driving my friends, I scrapped the Honda idea. I had no idea it had that much power! The car is a rocketship when you want it to be. It is approaching 100k, and I have never had any problems with it. I am looking forward to having many more years of fun. It is a great car that can easily fit 4 adults and has a ton of trunk space for all of your stuff. I absolutely love my Maxima, and would buy it again in a heartbeat!

Yeah I had a ford explorer before this, and was gonna get another truck. This car tho...is big enough to carry most everthing i move around...the 6sp is fun but rough in constant traffic. The gas milegage over having the truck is fantastic...fun car to drive, and gets good looks.

I have had the car for a little over a week now and all I can say is WOW!! The acceleration is unreal and the fit and finish is top notch. Bose stereo is second only to Lexus Mark Levinson. Got a great deal(bought at invoice) and the whole dealer experience was excellent, will definitely buy the 04 when it debuts.

Flawless in interior design, engine performance and braking. Very comfortable on long trips. Ergonomics are well thought out. Pleasure to drive on those looong highway stretches. Adaquate stereo, storage space. Xenon bulbs are a dream. Incredible value for money. Selected this product after testing Acura CL, Toyota Avalon, Lexus ES 300, BMW 3 Series, and Volvo S60.

The 02/03 Maxima is easlily the best value for the money when it comes to performance, comfort and styling. The only cars that compare to the Maxima SE 6-speed in performance and price are much smaller (ie. Subaru WRX) and not very practical. Those who say that the Maxima has lost its 4DSC (Four Door Sports Car) label are quite mistaken. This car handles extremely well and blows the doors off just about everything out there for under $30K.

I drove a 90 Maxima to 175k w/ no major issues. I currently drive an 06 Altima SE-R. I was confident that the purchase of a well maintained 03 Maxima GLE wouldnt disappoint. Boy was I right. Very handsome design, plenty of power under the hood, and very well appointed for a car in its price range. The car just feels solid and well engineered. I am slightly biased, but its a car I highly recommend based on past and present Nissan ownership.

  • I love this Maxima - 2003 Nissan Maxima

I have loved this car! It has been a wonderful family vehicle. It is a 3.5L V6, so imagine the pep you get when you accelerate. This is the last year they made this body style, and I like it almost more than the 2004-2006 models. Nissans run on a timing chain too which eases some concerns as to when you need to replace your timing belt. Love it. I can only say positive things about it, other than the gas mileage averages about 24 mpg which isnt the best in terms of a sedan. But 3.5L V6 baby!

Well, this car if paid price is invoice or less(minus $1000 rebate) is a great value. Great powertrain. Very comfortable ride. Acceleration is awesome.

The cars were comfortable, powerful, felt like they were glued to the road, or on rails. The sound system was great, I had two, I think a 2000 and 2003 GLE, and I loved them. I got a few $800 or $900 repairs when the mileage was in the 1403. The repairs were the coils an an oil leak.
