This Year's Model Updates:

Since the Maxima was updated last year and is scheduled for a redesign in 2004, there are no major changes in store for the family sedan in 2003. There's a Titanium Edition package available for the SE and side airbags are now standard on GLEs.

Pros:
  • Impressively powerful V6 engine, sports car moves, availability of premium features, plenty of room for five adults.
Cons:
  • High price, rough ride quality with SE suspension.

  • Power and Style in an Underrated Package - 2003 Nissan Maxima

Ive put 6000 miles on my 03 GLE (traded in my 99 GLE) and have been nearly 100% satisfied. The 355 hp V6 is smooth and powerful. The features and available options (mine has Meridian package but not the nav) cant be beat for the price: I got mine for the low 25s. After test driving the 3.2TL (nice, but more expensive and pricier insurance), Saab 9-3 (did not feel as roomy and somewhat slower), and Audi A4, (not worth the xtra $$) Im thrilled with the value and amenities of the Maxima.

Traded my 93 Z for the 2003 Maxima. Better mileage, more room, same power, not as much fun to drive by a long shot, but so much more practical. Long trips are comfortable. Plenty of room for my 6 ft 2 in frame. Seat could go back a bit more. Dont like the spoiler, its a dirt catcher and totally useless. Why do they make them for passenger vehicles? Bose system sounds fine. Can carry on a normal conversation during highway driving, the cabin is quiet. Plenty of trunk room. Rear seat folds down for a bit more room. Plenty of power for onramp merges and passing in a hurry. NOT a sports sedan, however, though it handles just fine. No problems so far.

This car is totally great. The handling on this car is excellent. It is very comfortable and roomy. The seats are wide enough to support those of us who are average in size and above. If you want a practical family car with a wild side, this is the car to get. It can smoke all of its competitors at the line. Accords, Camrys, Monte Carlos, Mustangs (except Cobra and Seline), and many others all ate my dust. This cars only flaw is torque steering because it has too much power. But torque steering isnt too bad and you can live with it. All around this car is great for its price. Get the 2003s while they last. You wont regret it.

Just finished putting 1100 miles on my new Max. I traded in a 1998 Audi A4. Though not as nimble due to the lack of independent rear suspension, the Maxima is a fun car to drive with plenty of power and decent handling. How can you go wrong with a 255 hp car that can smoke most other vehicles on the road, yet carry a family of four comfortably? Plus youll get a great deal on a 03 model now that they are trying to push the 04s.

This car has great pickup, even at high speeds on the highway. I put 15,000 miles on this car the first 6 months I had it...and it rides like a dream, even at 110 miles per hour.

This car is a pleasure to drive! Its very quick with excellent handling and braking. The seats are very comfortable although head room in the back is a little tight for a six footer.

I like the styling and performance ( acceleration/handling/brakes ) but the interior is sub par. I have a dash that rattles/squeaks and the seats are cheap. I don’t have the Bose stereo so I installed a sub-woofer which helps immensely. The Idler pulley bearing went out so the dealership loaned me a Lincoln LS. For the same money ( $18,000 ) I could have gotten a 2003/2002 Lincoln LS instead of the Maxima SE. I made a mistake. The Lincoln is twice the car as my 2003 Maxima SE. I am now shopping for a nice 2002/2003 Lincoln LS with low miles. My only concern is that the Nissan is probably a more dependable car than the Lincoln. I’m going to take the chance because the LS is WAY nicer

I just received my Maxima yesterday and can already tell I made the right decision in picking this vehicle. The Horsepower is great, and the Stereo is unbelievable. Looks, feels, runs, and drives great.

  • Picked Over Accord - 2003 Nissan Maxima

I was ready to purchase an Accord until I drove the Maxima. Best car I have ever owned. I like the body style and colors offered. More horsepower with the Maxima. Great features. A true luxury car at affordable price. Interior is much more refined than the Altima.
