Overview & Reviews
A 20th Anniversary edition includes the 227-horsepower version of the standard 3.0-liter V6 from the Infiniti I30, as well as goodies like bronze-lensed headlight covers, a body kit, ersatz carbon-fiber interior trim, drilled metal pedals and a number of features normally optional on the SE. This special model also gets an exclusive color: Majestic Blue. A new Meridian package is optional on all Maximas, bundling side-impact airbags and a low washer fluid indicator with heated front seats and side mirrors, as well as special trunk lid trim. Adding optional traction control to the SE or GLE results in a Z Edition Maxima, for some zany reason.
- Silky and powerful V6 engine, sports car moves, room for the whole family.
- Odd styling details, high price, rough ride quality with SE suspension.

Winner - 2001 Nissan Maxima
By jma - March 24 - 2:00 pmThe GLE sedan is super! The ride is not a Buick Lesabre ride, but it is comfortable and handles more like a sports car. I get more compliments on this car than any other Ive ever had.

Fast, Fun, and Fuel Efficient Reliabilty - 2001 Nissan Maxima
By dodgeman - February 17 - 9:46 amThis car was my Moms 6th Nissan in a row, after she gave it to me in 04, She moved on to her 7th if that gives you any indication of how loyal we are to Nissan. This car has been extremely reliable and easy to own. In fact, just a few days ago on Christmas morning was the first repair its ever had done, a starter. The car is very high quality from the interior materials featuring soft touch leather and vinyls almost everywhere and soft touch plastic knobs, the the 8.5 year old paint thats never been waxed that still shines like new. Not only is it very comfortable and reliable, but it will run to 60 in under 7 seconds, all while achieving 30+ highway and 23+ city on premium fuel.

Nissan Has Fallin Off from Being Premium - 2001 Nissan Maxima
By tonepearson - February 1 - 6:50 pmNot the most reliable car. Has a lot of mechanical problems that arises very often as explained below. Nissan pretty much stole everyones money with the make of these cars b/c I feel Toyota and Honda did a whole lot better than them with the reliability of there cars. These cars are worth lees than KIAs and DAEWOOs if you ask me. I have own this car for a year and has spent more in it than its worth. To all my fellow buyers avoid these cars b/c I promise you b4 200,000 miles it will be junk unlike Toyota and Honda. At least they recall a car that has a problem all Nissan did was pocket the consumers money and gave them the middle finger. So to you Nissan I hope you go out of business.

This is a keeper - 2001 Nissan Maxima
By CaptainD - December 31 - 1:43 amPurchased my 2001 Nissan Maxima new and roughly four years later I am still enjoying the drive. it has a strong engine (227HP) and excellent and brakes. its transmission is the most irratating item. Its shifts are not as crisp or predictable under certanin driving conditions as I would expect in a sports-oriented sedan. It provides a high level of comfort and convenience. The only quality issue was the leather on the drivers seat side bolster wore through from sliding across it or snagging on cell phoneThis was a $200 repair, but now it is like new. The seat is only partially covered with leather, most of it is vinyl. The Bose sound system is supurb! I am experiencing an annoying groan / squeak from dash area that I cant locate. My overall evaluation is that this ia a great vehicle for the money.

Great Maxima! - 2001 Nissan Maxima
By Arnaldo - December 2 - 10:00 amIt may not be the cutest thing on wheels but it is r-e-l-i-a-b-l-e! 222 horses really move it around town & country. Toyotas may be a little better, BUT, down in Puerto Rico, Toyota dealers are WAY too prepotent, due to the quality of the product they sell; so I go for the 2nd. best in MY book: NISSAN! Greetings from sunny Puerto Rico! J.A.N.

Awesome - 2001 Nissan Maxima
By Gatorma - December 1 - 2:00 amThis is my 4th Maxima and definately my favorite. Bought it used (3 years old) and it looks better than some of the new ones. Previous owner took immaculate care of the vehicle. AE rides like an expensive Lexus or Mercedes. Bose sound system is awesome - definately enjoyed by me, but extremely enjoyed by my 16-year son and his music. Friends/co-workers cant stop talking about how lucky I am. Recommend owning any Maxima to anyone, never unsatisfied. Thank you, Nissan....

Its been great - 2001 Nissan Maxima
By Van - November 5 - 3:20 amBought new, now 74,000 miles. One service bulletin for tie rod. Paint could be better, chips easily. Creaky front end. Decent mileage on highway. Recently replaced exhaust for about $500. Brakes work great but rotors do not hold up. Will be on 3rd set of fronts next break job. Stiff, sometimes rude ride. I replaced front right speaker last year. Easy to do, ($50). Still fun to drive, even though I have an automatic. Plenty of power for pretty much any situation. Sometimes let er rip to 5500 RPMS and the car just flies - never complains. Recently on 3rd set of tires. Went for good set of Bridgestones, all weather. Confident foul weather car. Maybe mine was a good sample. Never let me down.
