This Year's Model Updates:

Since the Maxima was updated last year and is scheduled for a redesign in 2004, there are no major changes in store for the family sedan in 2003. There's a Titanium Edition package available for the SE and side airbags are now standard on GLEs.

Pros:
  • Impressively powerful V6 engine, sports car moves, availability of premium features, plenty of room for five adults.
Cons:
  • High price, rough ride quality with SE suspension.

  • My Maxima is GREAT! - 2003 Nissan Maxima
    By -

I LOVE this car! Im an Acura girl at heart, but feel I made a great choice in the Maxima SE. I love the get up and go and my Xenon headlights. Im trying to adapt to the turning radius-- kind of makes me want to check out that 2004 Acura TL. Overall this car is fabulous for the price!!!

Best car that I have hade in a long time. Fun to drive, and is fast.

  • Headlights - 2003 Nissan Maxima

Given what I know now, I would have never purchased this car. The headlights are so easy to steal and so costly to replace. Mine were stolen in less than a minute--right in front of me. The thieves popped them out with a screwdriver causing significant damage to the hood and bumper. This is a dangerous car. I worry about my safetly all the time. Nissan has not been sensitive to concerns. Yes, they have recalled the car to install the brackets on the headlights, but they still can be stolen.

  • Loud interior - 2003 Nissan Maxima

I love this car, but the interior is much louder than it should be for a car of this price. Thats really the only disapointing part about this vehicle.

  • Great car and deal - 2003 Nissan Maxima

This is a super car. I have owned 4 Nissans and this is a fun car to drive. I had a 280ZX and 240SX too. This car is a better option than the Altima. Friends with new cars, (Honda Accord, Honda Pilot, etc.)love to ride in my Maxima.

We bought the 03 GLE because we have had such good service from our "91 Maxima. Our son now drives the 91 which has over 125K miles on it. This GLE is an awesome car and it is a pleasure to drive. One problem is that I always have the temptation to kick it and I know sooner or later it will get me a ticket. We have put close to 7000 miles on it in the year we have had it.

  • Rust - 2003 Nissan Maxima
    By -

My new car developed rust on the rear wheel frame as a result of driving during New Englands sanded/salted roads during last winter. Nothing but a run-a-round from Nissan and my dealer. The car has a design flaw and the company knows it. The problem only occurs if certain conditions are met. I am not satisfied with Nissan at all. A brand new car should not develop rust in only four months? They should have been more supportive.

  • Recommend it, but... - 2003 Nissan Maxima
    By -

Id recommend this car as shown by the ratings. A few minor things to pick on. Im 61", and this car is too small for me. My head is buried in the roof (moonroof actually) unless the seat is really reclined. Bose radio, heated seats and window safety switch all broke. Leaky window seals. Handles poorly in the rain and snow, but can be compensated for by an appropriate tire. Still, a very good car.

  • Best car I have owned - 2003 Nissan Maxima
    By -

Best car I every owned except for a 240Z , but this 2003 Maxima would leave the old Z in its dust. Only two complaints. Wide turning circle and harsh ride from original 17" Bridgestone Potenza tires. A great car for all driving conditions.

  • Great car - Bad Paint - 2003 Nissan Maxima
    By -

I love the car. It has great power and handles great. Im 64 and have good room except for the gas and brake pedals are to close. Also after you start washing and waxing your car your notice many new chips after every wash. The paint quality is the worst Ive ever seen.
