This Year's Model Updates:

A 20th Anniversary edition includes the 227-horsepower version of the standard 3.0-liter V6 from the Infiniti I30, as well as goodies like bronze-lensed headlight covers, a body kit, ersatz carbon-fiber interior trim, drilled metal pedals and a number of features normally optional on the SE. This special model also gets an exclusive color: Majestic Blue. A new Meridian package is optional on all Maximas, bundling side-impact airbags and a low washer fluid indicator with heated front seats and side mirrors, as well as special trunk lid trim. Adding optional traction control to the SE or GLE results in a Z Edition Maxima, for some zany reason.

Pros:
  • Silky and powerful V6 engine, sports car moves, room for the whole family.
Cons:
  • Odd styling details, high price, rough ride quality with SE suspension.

I am addicted to the Maxima. This is my 5th one, and anytime I have tried to switch to another car, I havent been happy. I always come back to the Maxima.

I bought this car new in 2001 due to its great handling and performance. Unfortunately, I had no way of knowing how cheap Nissan had gone on the parts. O2 sensors, mass airflow sensors, busted muffler, warped door to the gas tank, electrical system issues...I can go on and on. My advice is to stay away!

  • Nothing like a Maxima. - 2001 Nissan Maxima

I bought this car at 56k miles and have been very pleased. I have taken very good care of the car, all recommended maintenance. I have replaced the alternator at 70K, had a small problem with the front right tire making noise, turns out it was only a slightly uneven wheel, simply put it on the back and it has never maid a noise since. Wish I could have found a 5-speed for the same price/miles. I average 22mpg in town; about 26mpg at 80mph. The ride is a little rough in town, but nothing but comfort at high speeds. Overall a very impressive car.

This is a very smooth riding car and the gle model has a very luxorious interior and absorbs road bumps very well. This is the best car i have owned since a 95 v6 camry. I actually got rid of a 99 grandprix gt for the camry due to problems with the grandprix.

  • Unbelievable Bang for the Buck - 2001 Nissan Maxima

Ive purchased my 01 Maxima SE 5- speed last September and Im happy to report that nearly 1 year and 14K miles later, absolutely no faults to be found...this car is amazing! Ive done nothing but routine maintenance. If I had to nitpick, my gripes are slightly notchy manual shift action and the pain of pulling out the premium gas pump. Although I have run regular and mid-grade fuel on occasion with no ill-effects, Nissan should calibrate their Max to run on 87 or 89 octane, even for a few horsepower penalty. Nevertheless, if this car stays as solid and reliable through the long haul, Ill definately be back for another.

I bought a new 2001 SE about 18 months ago. It has been a great car to date. The performance, comfort, and styling are great. The bang for the buck is huge. I cant understand why someone would choose an Accord or Camry over this car. I have averaged 23 mpg running regular unleaded, and I have had NO performance problems whatsoever. I did have to get the CD player replaced b/c it never worked. Additionally, I just replaced the stock tires at 27k. Overall, I would highly recommend this car to anybody.

  • Tough to find a better car for the buck - 2001 Nissan Maxima

In my experience the 2001 Nissan Maxima SE is a solidly built car. The ergonomics are right on, and the comfort is there. Performance is where it takes the cake. Try to find another make for around $21000.00 (thats what I paid new), that can outperform this car. Not an easy task.

  • Best Car EVER - 2001 Nissan Maxima

I bought my 2001 GLE from a dealer in Minnesota. I bought the car with 113,000 miles for $10,600. This car IS AMAZING!! This car drives like a porsche, and best of all, its affordable. You get a lot of bang for your buck with the 222-horse engine, and the features of this car. The engine is very quiet, in fact you can hear the tires over the engine. The bose 200 watt system is also a great bonus to this car. If you are in the market for a used sedan, the maxima is the only choice. Its powerful, classy, comfortable, and safe. I give this car 2 thumbs WAY UP!!

  • Good Car, Bad Dealer - 2001 Nissan Maxima

Got a "good" deal for this 2001 Maxima in 2002, but very disappointed with the dealer. They promised 0% APR then backed out. They promised "lifetime" oil change (twice a year) when we purchased it. We called last week to verify the offer, and the salesperson told us to come in. This morning my wife brought the car in and they told her that there is no such deal. Disgusting place, this Crescent City Nissan in New Orleans.

  • Awesome - 2001 Nissan Maxima

I have owned 5 Nissans and I am convinced that these vehicles are reliable. When I test drove the 2001 Maxima, I knew this would be my sixth. It is an incredibly reliable, safe, and, powerful car. I chose the five-speed manual GXE, and it is awesome. This car is definately the best bang for your buck!
