This Year's Model Updates:

The Altima's winning formula continues with few changes. Smoke is a new exterior color choice, and four-cylinder models meet stricter federal emissions standards. Models with California emissions are now classified as Partial Zero Emissions Vehicles (PZEV).

Pros:
  • Sports car power in a midsize sedan body, excellent handling, roomy and comfortable interior, high level of features, distinct styling.
Cons:
  • Low-grade interior materials, considerable road noise, overboosted steering, no stability control.

  • Best Of All of Them - 2004 Nissan Altima

Im in my 60s and for all the cars I have bought and driven over the years from Chevys, Fords and other imports, this car is the best of the breed. Its comfortable, its fun to drive and very very reliable. If I had enough money I would buy one for every day of the week.

  • Great Style and Bose sound system - 2004 Nissan Altima

I bought the Altima new and have all the features of leather, sun roof, Bose sound (which is the best) ABS, side air bags, etc. I use it mostly for commuting and now have 105,000 miles on it. The mileage is great (28-30 mpg) for work and 32 mpg on longer trips. Ive only had one problem about 6 months ago it wouldnt start once in a while and would quit while slowing down for a light. Nissan sent out recall at the same time which fixed the problem. My only complaint would be the poor quality material of the seat which started cracking about a year after the warranty expired. Also the automatic shifting is like working a rubic cube.

  • My Favorite Car - 2004 Nissan Altima

My Altima is that pretty sage green color. I cant tell you how many people compliment the car. It acclerates well and has excellent response. The Bose sound system is a must. I can never own another car without a sunroof. You will be spoiled. My only regret is that I did not get ON-Star.

  • Power to spare - 2004 Nissan Altima

My wife bought a 3.5SE in May 2003. She let me drive it occasionally and I fell in love with it. Bought my own 2 months later. Satin white is beautiful on this car. The power is phenomenal, especially such quiet, smooth, neck snapping acceleration. Its not always the power you use but what whats in reserve. This has RESERVE !!! Cant wait to start it up in the morning. absolutely the most fun car Ive ever driven. And all this for $21,200. Awesome Plus !!!

  • Great Buy - 2004 Nissan Altima

Going from a gas guzzling Camaro to my new Altima was a great change. I get anywhere from 25-32 mpg which is a HUGE difference. I miss the pep of the Camaro but you will be surprised what this little 4 cyl can do, not to mention the leg room! The lumbar support in the drivers seat makes a long trip more comfortable. For the price, you cant beat the quality and performance...Its a Great Buy!

  • Altima Gas Mileage - 2004 Nissan Altima
    By -

The 2004 Altima looks great and handles well, like several other Japanese sedans. However, mine doesnt measure up in the gas mileage department. Since I live six miles out of town and have only one (1) stop sign and one (1) light between my location and the mall, Ive previously experienced very high mileage, above the advertised highway figure. This 2004 Altima has been getting (1300 miles since new) only 22-24 mpg, right at the low end of the rating (23city, 29 highway). Its unacceptable.

  • Truly Top of the Line - 2004 Nissan Altima
    By -

Compared Altima to Ford, Dodge, Chrysler, Toyota and Camry. This beauty outclassed them all value-wise. This car is fully loaded for less than an equivalent Accord base (pre-option) price. A 4-cyl with enough power to pull you back in your seat. Some Edmnds reviews say it steers badly--thats torque steering. The engine pulls so well that accelerating while turning will "assist" the driver with a pull on the wheel. After a week, you know how to handle it.
