This Year's Model Updates:

All Altimas receives exterior styling enhancements, including new smoked headlamps and taillights, new wheel designs and a restyled front fascia and grille, along with a much needed interior redesign. The 3.5-liter V6 gets five more horsepower and three more lb-ft of torque, for a total of 250 and 249, respectively, and is now available with a five-speed automatic transmission. A new performance-oriented SE-R model joins the lineup along with a leather-lined 3.5 SL model. A newly optional DVD-based navigation system and two new exterior colors round out the changes.

Pros:
  • Sports car power in a midsize sedan body, excellent handling, roomy and comfortable interior, high level of features, distinctive styling.
Cons:
  • Considerable road noise, overboosted steering, no stability control, ABS still an extra-cost option.

  • Awesome Car!! - 2005 Nissan Altima

Just got mine yesterday and loving every minute driving it.The car is real SHARP looking! Even with my neighborhood littered with Altimas, mine still turns heads. The Sheer Silver with the chrome accents on the door really puts an exclamation point on an already gorgeous car. Also like the new alloys for 05 and the redesign of the interior.

This is a very classy car. I test drove at least six other 4cyl cars and none even came close to having the pep of the Altima. This car flies for a 4 cylinder. The Bose audio system is outstanding, but the radio reception is weak. The blond interior is sleek and beautiful with a rich feel. This car turns heads as you drive. The things I dont like are the door locks which are easy to accidently lock. I also had a torn CV boot at 4000 miles. The trunk lid has a problem staying open especially with a spoiler. Since the good points overweigh the bad, overall I am happy with this car.

  • One year later....still love it - 2005 Nissan Altima

I leased my 05 3.5 SE w/ auto trans back in May 04. At 20K and over a year later I must say this is a great car. The engine is awesome (especially with the auto stick mode) and it makes merging on the highway a joy. I get about 24 mpg in mixed driving conditions. The freshened interior is attractive, seats are comfortable and the Bose stereo is great. The Xenon lights are bright and clear at night and they look great w/ the smoked out lense covers. All in all, Nissan has done a great job with this car and I highly recommend it to anyone. Good job!

Love the car, never had any trouble from it. Had a variety of vechicles, must say without a doubt this is the best in preformance, make, you name it.

I absolutely love this car. I cant wait to test the engine (still breaking in) but you know there is a lot of power waiting in the wings. The display for the navi/sound system has a nice day/night feature which helps reduce glare in the day and too much brightness at night. Dial controls for the auto climate control seems elegant. The Bose sound system is good but the bass seems very light unless you crank up the volume. My main complaint: the cheap parts (lock switch, dashboard, faux wood panelling, etc) are very noticeable. Hence, I gave it only a 9 in that regard. Otherwise, overall the car is worthy of the praises that it receives.

The five speed manual w/ the 4 cylindar is a very fun and peppy car for the money. It drives much like a sports car, but has the convenience of being a sedan and feels surprisingly luxurious for the price.

  • Love my SE-R!! - 2005 Nissan Altima

Ive had this car for a few weeks, put a few thousand miles on it already, and love it! I had a 97 Altima (still have) w/ 173000 miles, I expect the same from this. The only problem is that my old favorite windy roads are now boring in the SE-R, I need to find more challanging roads! Oh wait, guess thats not really a problem is it?

  • 8 years old, 148,000 miles, still happy - 2005 Nissan Altima
    By -

My 2005 Nissan Altima 3.5SE was the first NEW car I ever purchased, having only purchased used cars before. I have been very pleased with the car. I now have around 148,000 miles on the car and it is still running strong. I have not had any major problems. I have gone through the original set of tires and replaced the tires twice and need to go get new tires again. I first needed the rear brake pads changed at around 100,000 miles. The front pads needed changing for the first time at about 130,000 miles. Im not sure how long Ill continue driving this before buying a new vehicle; earlier this year we replaced my wifes car with 2013 Ford Explorer (fully loaded Limited), happy with it too.

  • An altima beyond its name - 2005 Nissan Altima

To start off i love this car. I also happen to be a nissan technician so i see these cars everyday, i know them in and out far more than anyone else just looking to buy a car can know. That is why i bought this car. Its a family sedan thats fun to drive, u dont feel like u have to be old to buy it. Im in my mid 20s with a family, i did not want to be stuck in some boring family car, i wanted one that i could take out, enjoy myself, and return home with a smile on my face everytime. I get looks from people all the time wondering is that an altima, especially ones who own the base 2.5S, or 3.5Se models. To put it simply, if you want to feel young in a family car, this is it!!!
