Overview & Reviews
The all-new third-generation 2002 Altima represents a total revision and rethinking of Nissan's midsize sedan -- it brings a level of design and performance that currently does not exist in its class. With a choice of a 240-horsepower, 3.5-liter V6 or 175-horsepower, 2.5-liter four-cylinder and an all-new four-wheel independent suspension, the Altima offers spirit with state-of-the-art technology. An aggressive new exterior design with increases in all major dimensions and a driver-oriented interior with myriad convenience and luxury features set the Altima apart in the highly competitive sedan marketplace.
- Sports car power in a midsize sedan body, high level of features, distinct new shape.
- All-new design could mean first-year teething problems and dealer mark-up.

Design+Performance = Best Buy - 2002 Nissan Altima
By marco polo - July 27 - 10:00 amNo wonder this was the North American Car of the Year. The design/style and the performance of the 3.5SE engine is unmatched for a vehicle in this price range. Nissan has outdone its competitors! I cant wait for the aftermarket performance parts from Stillen or Jim Wolf Technology to become available. The engine has untapped resources waiting to be unleashed.

My dream car! - 2002 Nissan Altima
By jemathew - July 21 - 10:00 amI love this car! Its stylish, zippy, yet larger than the average sports car. Theres plenty of room for 4 (or even 5) adults -- lots of legroom in the backseat. The trunk is huge, the interior is beautiful. It gets pretty good gas mileage for a car its size (I probably drive 60% city/ 40% highway on average and get about 23 mpg). And its so much fun to drive!

New Altima - 2002 Nissan Altima
By wdy160 - May 27 - 2:00 amThis is a great vehicle to drive. Quick and agile. Build quality could use improvement. A few rattles. Passenger side door leaked water. It took 3 visits to the dealership to fix it.

Wow! - 2002 Nissan Altima
By colebob - May 3 - 10:00 amThis was my last choice of car to check on my list of Honda, Passat, Toyota, Mazda, even BMW. I took a test drive & bought it! Incredible power in the engine! Drove a Suburban 7 yrs & was scared of a small car & no power. I got this car black & loaded with all the bells. Have 480 miles on it & people stop me all the time to say how cool the car looks. Im very happy & would recommend to anyone.

First Time Nissan Buyer - 2002 Nissan Altima
By docholiday - April 26 - 10:00 amThe exterior styling and colors are outstanding! The Bose sound system, sunrf, ABS, Traction control and 3.5 engine performance are hard to beat for under $25k. The ride is comfortable but steering is a bit too light at higher speeds (80+). But lots of room (Im 64 1/2") with room to spare. Getting 26.5mpg which is great based on the speeds Ive been averaging!

Great family car ! - 2002 Nissan Altima
By Pierre Guité - April 8 - 2:00 amGreat car. After one year of use, only 4 visits to the dealer for oil changes and front tire alignement. With 2 small kids, moving the family is a lot of fun. Good cargo capacity, easy access to the back seats. Fuel economy is great at less than 8 liters/100 km on the highway (for speeds of 110km/h (2.5SE version)

My dream car exceeded expectations - 2002 Nissan Altima
By alison - February 14 - 10:00 amIve driven many different cars & minivans for 20 years. I drove an Altima once and found its handling superior to anything I knew - so when I went to buy my next car I had to try the new model Altima. Now almost two years later I still smile each time I get in it - it was the best decision Ive made in a long time. It still handles crisply, hugs the road on corners, brakes and accelerates responsively, is very roomy and comfortable - while looking and feeling sharp. The interior has maintained like new. This is an excellent car and a delight to drive - all distances and in all weathers. Not a single problem.
