Overview & Reviews
The all-new third-generation 2002 Altima represents a total revision and rethinking of Nissan's midsize sedan -- it brings a level of design and performance that currently does not exist in its class. With a choice of a 240-horsepower, 3.5-liter V6 or 175-horsepower, 2.5-liter four-cylinder and an all-new four-wheel independent suspension, the Altima offers spirit with state-of-the-art technology. An aggressive new exterior design with increases in all major dimensions and a driver-oriented interior with myriad convenience and luxury features set the Altima apart in the highly competitive sedan marketplace.
- Sports car power in a midsize sedan body, high level of features, distinct new shape.
- All-new design could mean first-year teething problems and dealer mark-up.

Wow, this is fun to drive - 2002 Nissan Altima
By j7469 - December 11 - 2:00 amI decided to try a Nissan. I went and test drove a 3.5 SE Altima. Just 30 seconds into the test drive and I knew this was the car for me. I immediately appreciated the drive by wire accelerator, I also couldnt help but noticed on my first turn how well the Altima handled and the lack of body roll was impressive. The car is sharp, looks like an expensive sports car. The comfort of the vehicle is good however I have yet to take a road trip of more than 2 hours. The leg room is impressive. If youre looking at a mid- size V6 car then do yourself a favor and at least test drive the Altima, you wont be sorry.

My Nissan - 2002 Nissan Altima
By Rick - November 29 - 6:43 amWe have had our Altima for almost 4 years. Since then, we have made several long distance trips...it was great on the highway as well as in town. It even did well on the Autobahn when we moved to Germany. We have owned many vehicles in the past, and have kept the Altima the longest. It has proven to be a reliable, dependable, and fun car to drive. Prior to the Nissan, we had never owned a Japanese car before...we had always owned GM. Never again.

Some minor problem - 2002 Nissan Altima
By DonCT - November 2 - 10:00 amGot it 3/23/2002 and have 2500 miles on it. It handles very good, and has amazing acceleration. Some minor problems:1)this thing is a gas hog.I get an average of 25MPG but I have to put premium in it. 2)There are some cheap interior details: The center console and the trunk have to be slammed hard to be closed. The center area in the dash is made out of cheap plastic.3)I am getting some noise on my left side when I am doing over a 100MPH but since the noise comes and goes randomly I wont worry about it.4)My right speaker vibrates too much when I crank the stereo and listen to something with a lot of bass but I can always turn the voume down!

2002 Nissan Altima (Ultima) 3.5 SE V6 - 2002 Nissan Altima
By Ultima - October 22 - 10:00 amLets see... Theres the Camry (boring), Accord (boring), Passat (small, over priced, a little boring), and just about any American mid-size (boring and unreliable). Hmmm... Not a tough choice here. 2002 Altima 3.5 SE V6 : - Best Horsepower & Torque for its class - Most Room in its class - Nissan Reliability - Best Exterior for its class - Acceptable Interior (could have done better here guys) - Fair priced if you negotiate a little - Fun, fun, fun to drive

Very Unhappy - 2002 Nissan Altima
By Mark_ace7 - September 20 - 2:00 amIf it drove as good as it looks, I would be very happy. My stick grinds into 2nd and 3rd and the dealer says its normal. The car also vibrates a great deal from external noise (other cars, trucks, etc..) The vibration is strong in the stering wheel, pedals, and stick. I want my old car back.

BANG FOR THE BUCK - 2002 Nissan Altima
By DIBIASE - September 10 - 10:00 ami LOVE THIS VEHICLE. ONLY GRIPE IS THE INTERIOR, BUT EVERY CAR HAS SOMETHING TO GRIPE ABOUT, TRUST ME. THE ACCELERATION EVEN ON THE 4 CYLINDER IS VERY LIVELY, I LOVE THE RIDE AND THAT GATED SHIFTER THING LOOKS SO MUCH SWEETER AND SPORTIER THAN THAT OLD REGULAR SHIFTER IN THE CAMRY AND ACCORD. THE ALTIMA REALLY SHINES WITH ANY ALLOY WHEELS, SPOILER AND FOG LIGHTS TO GO WITH IT. PUT SOME TINT AND YOUR ALTIMA WILL BE OFFICIAL.
