Overview & Reviews
All Altimas receives exterior styling enhancements, including new smoked headlamps and taillights, new wheel designs and a restyled front fascia and grille, along with a much needed interior redesign. The 3.5-liter V6 gets five more horsepower and three more lb-ft of torque, for a total of 250 and 249, respectively, and is now available with a five-speed automatic transmission. A new performance-oriented SE-R model joins the lineup along with a leather-lined 3.5 SL model. A newly optional DVD-based navigation system and two new exterior colors round out the changes.
- Sports car power in a midsize sedan body, excellent handling, roomy and comfortable interior, high level of features, distinctive styling.
- Considerable road noise, overboosted steering, no stability control, ABS still an extra-cost option.

Happy New Owner - 2005 Nissan Altima
By Deacon Fan - May 28 - 8:23 pmAs a former sports car owner who now has a wife and a family, I love driving this car (05 SE V-6 5 sp) Unbeatable engine performance for the money, combined with lots of interior space. Ive looked at Altimas ever since the 2002 redesign, and have test driven 2002 and 2003 models before. The 2005 model is an improvement in refinement and interior materials quality. 5 Speed manual shifter much smoother than in previous models. Having driven competitor vehicles, I prefer the Altima over: a) the Mazda 6 due to interior space and road noise b) Toyota Camry and Honda Accord due to the Altima having "more soul." Excellent choice if you want a good mix of performance, value, and family space.

good bang for the buck - 2005 Nissan Altima
By Val - May 13 - 11:46 amI purchased my 3.5 SL in September of 2005, and I have been loving it ever since. I did have trouble with the passenger airbag light when I first bought the car, but got it fixed quickly. This car is so powerful, you cannot really understand unless you drive it. I would buy this car again in an instant because of the acceleration speed alone, not to mention the good looks. I got the mystic emerald color with the light beige leather interior. I get so many compliments on it.

Good Value - 2005 Nissan Altima
By Tikijojo - May 6 - 10:00 amI test drove the Honda Accord and was pretty much set on leasing until I drove the Altima. The 05 Altimas new interior is very sleek, and not to mention comfortable. The 175hp 2.5 engine is very responsive both off the line and at highway speed.

What a fine car - 2005 Nissan Altima
By new2Nissan - April 30 - 10:00 amTested the Accord V6, Camry XLE, and Altima. Although the Camry got the nod in the fit, finish and overall comfort, it was no contest in the performance test. (Accord was close, and it does have XFM.) Having driven the Altima for about three weeks now only confirms the choice. It is a blast to drive. Solid on the interstate, in the city, and winding roads (CO 93 from Boulder to Golden). My wife absolutely loves it; she cant believe the performance and handling. It has instant power all throughout the range. The seats are really comfortable and I just cant believe the amount of interior space. The front passenger area is especially cavernous. What a fine car!

Great Choice - 2005 Nissan Altima
By Jetfan 16 - April 25 - 10:00 amThank god I didnt get the 2.5S that I left a $1000 deposit. I slept on it and realized that I really wanted the 3.5SE. Well, that was a very important decision. Got the 2005 3.5 SE with Sports Pkg Plus (everything except leather & navigation). Car is amazing. The triponic tranny is cool and smooth. Got the super black color and it will look even sharper with tinted windows.

powerful 2.5! - 2005 Nissan Altima
By car fanatic09 - April 12 - 3:10 amWhen we bought this car I underestimated the power to speed ratio. Once I really got to know the car I realized its pretty fast. You notice when you start to go faster the engine has a loud roar to it. Its not quite. Esp are 40 an d above. People will know your coming. Steering is pretty lose. Handles exceptionally well. Hugs corners fine. Responsive time are perfection on a bad day. If this is a 2.5 w 175 hp I wish I had the 260 3.5.

Wow, Now it has everything. - 2005 Nissan Altima
By bankersav - March 24 - 2:00 amI always thought the Altima was a nice looking car, but felt it had a cheap looking interior. Then I ran into the new 2005 model...the 3.5 ltr (6cyl) engine is now blowing out 250 horses, and has a new interior. I bought the new 3.5 SL (Sweet Luxury). I love sitting at stop lights waiting for some fool to come and race me. Even on the hiway, I drive the speed limit until fools try to pass me on the right...then ZOOM I am gone. The new wheels are a nice touch as well...look a little more like customized wheels. Also the BIG BOY "BOSE" stereo has one of the finest sounds no extra stereo components needed here...it gives off a LIVE sound when you crank it up.

More than expected for this price - 2005 Nissan Altima
By Marija - March 18 - 10:00 amThis car packs the standard features in compared to its competitors that need plenty of extra options just to match. Car handles unbelievably well and engine has just the right amount of power. Excellent road manners with right amount of feedback in steering wheel.
